Diana Inquiry More Complex Than Expected By DAVID STRINGER Associated Press Writer
LONDON
An inquiry into the death of Princess Diana is "far more complex than any of us thought," the official leading the investigation said Friday without commenting on the conspiracy theories that persist nearly nine years after her death.
Lord Stevens, the former head of London's Metropolitan Police, acknowledged that some of the issues raised by Mohammed al Fayed _ whose son, Dodi, was killed in the 1997 car crash with Diana _ were "right to be raised." He did not elaborate.
Mohammed al Fayed, the owner of London's famous Harrods store, has claimed Diana and his son were killed by British intelligence officials and their deaths resulted from a plot instigated by Prince Philip, husband of Queen Elizabeth II and Diana's former father-in- law.
Lord Stevens, speaking in a recorded interview to Britain's GMTV Sunday Program, did not reveal which of al Fayed's concerns he believed were correct.
"It is right to say that some of the issues that have been raised by Mr. Fayed have been right to be raised," he told the program, to be broadcast Sunday. "We are pursing those. It is a far more complex inquiry than any of us thought."
A transcript of his comments were released Friday.
Lord Stevens said his team was examining the vehicle in which Dodi was traveling on Aug. 31, 1997 in Paris.
Diana, 36, her companion Dodi Fayed, 42, and their driver, Henri Paul, were killed when the car crashed into a pillar in an underpass. The only survivor, Diana's bodyguard, Trevor Rees-Jones, was badly hurt.
A French judge ruled in 1999 that the crash was an accident, and an investigation concluded that Paul had been drinking and was driving at high speed.
However, a British-led inquiry was ordered by the Royal Coroner, Michael Burgess, who raised concern about the number of conspiracy theories over the deaths.
"I think what people want is a thorough investigation going where the evidence takes us, and some of the answers to some of the questions that have been raised in national newspapers and in other parts of the world," said Stevens, who stepped down as London police chief in 2005.
"That is the job I have been asked to do and that is the job I'll do."
Stevens has spoken to Prince Charles about the death of his former wife as part of his inquiry.
The crash may have been an accident but that does not explain why she was NOT rushed to a nearby hospital for over an hour.
"Diana's family isn't especially sympathetic, nor is her younger son (recall the SS uniform, the drunken scraps, the cheating on his A-levels). I do have sympathy for the future king. He is caught between some particularly ugly individuals in both families and seems decent despite the circumstances."
Yes. It's always the children who suffer most. Hopefully, William can pull Harry off his destructive path...
Actually, I do have some insight as to who was behind her death: it was the Pentaveret, composed of:
1. The Queen of England
2. The Vatican
3. The Rothchilds
4. The Gettys
5. And Colonel Sanders, before he went tets up.
Again it is the French system. They believe that the emergency care should be administered at the scene of an accident. It is only after a patient is completely stabilized that they move them to a hospital.
Maybe their Emergency Rooms are worse than the Ambulance for this. Who knows?
Then why did the Brits take so long to hold their own inquest?
Just askin' :)
BTW, Lady Diana had some excellent Stuart lineage going for her, which is one reason she was carefully selected for the present false Prince of Wales. Unfortunately, she was a bit dim, couldn't really read and write very well, and enjoyed being a rock star rather more than she liked doing her job, which was simple enough: shut up, look good, follow her mother-in-law's commands, tolerate Charlie, and become queen.
And as for the worthy oriental gentleman with whom she was involved, what a maroon! With all their dough, they were driving a Benz with the Frog equivalent of a salvage title! S'truth, the damn car was a re-built wreck ... with a tipsy chauffeur!
The kids loved the limelight ... and it burned'em. End of story. RIP.
I do not agree with your opinion that our President is corrupt. Where is your proof?
They kept her there until she was dead.
But I don't suspect any sort of conspiracy at all.
Diana's prediction of her own death means nothing. She wrote all sorts of nonsense all the time. Charles isn't especially eager to be king, and no one including his mother really wants to see him on the throne. So who would have a stake in eliminating Diana just so he could marry without giving up his place in line? No one. The House of Windsor survived Wallis Simpson and Eddie VIII's pro-Nazi leanings, it certainly wouldn't be all that worried about the no longer royal Diana's dalliance with a Muslim. (Even if she married him, how long could it have lasted?)
I lost my sister when she was only 38, to a brain aneurysm. I still feel sorry for myself, knowing she won't be around in our old age. I feel sorriest, still, for my mother.
I ALWAYS feel sorry for the parents of a dead child. That is something that NO human being should have to experience.
And, no matter what sins the sons committed, I still feel some compassion, sympathy and pity at their having lost their mother FAR TOO early in their lives. I lost my dad when I was only 21....way too early. I still miss him.
I don't judge ONE son over another because I simply don't know them and I SURE don't buy into the crap that is found in the celeb rags. For all we know, William might have committed a few pecadillos too...but he just wasn't caught or the press wasn't allowed to print them, his being the future King of England. To be honest I don't trust any of the celeb rags or media.
Harold: "recall the SS uniform, the drunken scraps, the cheating on his A-levels."
This is SO unusual for a young man? Lol. Sorry, but I don't think he's ready for the gallows. He is so .... normal, or am I supposed to be APPALLED and SHOCKED BEYOND BELIEF by his wearing an SS band to a private Halloween costume party? He did take full responsibility, admit his guilt, publically apologize, write the needed letters, beat his breast, take the P.C. training sessions, appear before all the correct groups and wear the requisite sackcloth and ashes for the appropriate time. That's enough.
Cheating? Oh dear, how unusual. Not good at all and I hope he got flunked and had to take them over again. He can join the MINIONS of test cheaters in the ENTIRE human race.
Drunken scraps? Oh dear, how unusal, a young man having too much to drink and getting into a scrap. DEATH to him, not fit to live! < sarcasm > That's not appropriate behavior, but if we were to condemn every young person for drinking and getting into scraps, then we would be condemning WAY too big a chunk of the human race.
He MIGHT actually make a better "royal," statesman, politician and father because he HAS gone through the rebellous, stupid stage.... and got publically caught, humiliated and made to "repent." I'd say the same of priests. Who would want to have a parish priest who was THAT holy and pure as to never hav committed any sins? I sure wouldn't.
He may continue to live...and mature, says Queen Starfish :o).
My aforementioned pity/sympathy is just a human reaction of mine, nothing political, nothing for or against royals, foolish, young men or twitty families.
The thing that really bugged me about Diana was she didn't seem to appreciate all she DID have. The girl had everything! More than the rest of us will ever have. Great looks, wonderful, healthy kids, a huge amount of money, an extravagant lifestyle, nannies, world adoration, people who really wanted to be her friend, access to everything from celebrities to energy healers. So ONE guy didn't love her. IT HAPPENS! Appreciate all the fabulous things you were given in life and be content with it. Be grateful!
If ONE GUY can cause you to have such misery, with sharp mood swings, feelings of loneliness, boredom and emptiness and impulsive behavior such as binge eating and self-mutilation -- and you still have this chronically and persistently YEARS after the divorce and years after you have had a few nice love affairs yourself, (the doctor, the Squidgie guy, Hewitt, her body guard, Dodi)... well then I do think you have some mental problems.
It makes my brain hurt with all the things she had. I read a book briefly called "The Princess and the Duchess" and it described in detail the luxurious things that Diana and Fergie could indulge in. When I work at my little icky job stocking produce and dealing with one irate customer after another it burns that Diana could possibly want more of anything. Seriously top position in society, security, and two healthy kids. I don't think she ever learned how to appreciate things.
It was the unfortunate happenstances between my ancestors and the second Stuart king that led to their emigration to the New World.
Let dead Stuarts lie.
I know that, you know that, but the French have their "system".
Many times critical decisions are made by whoever has the political power in their particular system.
I would hazard the guess that the decision as to how ambulance patients were to be handled was not made by a competent Emergency Room Doctor. Probably it was made by the head of the ambulance driver's union, or the EMS technician's union.
Diana's mother, Frances Shand, abandoned her for another man.
Her sisters despised her, and her brother sought and continues to seek ways to profit from her passing. Recall she asked to live on his estate as a means of escaping the limelight and he refused her. Ironically, she is now buried there.
None of these people valued her in life. I feel sure they do not mourn her passing.
As for Harry, G-d help him.
I am sorry for your losses.
The Parisians have a funny way of treating cardiac tamponade, that's for sure.
Nah. She really didn't have anything at all. She had no faith. She put all her stock in things transient. She cherished and valued her sons, but not enough to respect herself. You're right about one thing. It is a shame.
A BIT DIM? Lol. Dumber than a box of hair.
She THRIVED on the media, THRIVED on the spotlight. She wanted to be Queen. She never could learn that it WASN'T all about HER. She never did learn that she wasn't supposed to be the center of attention. It really WAS supposed to be all about Charles. HE was the royal and heir to the throne, NOT her.
I can't imagine that no one ever told her this either. It's my read that she was either too stupid, immature, arrogant or obstinate to heed any advice or hints. She can't NOT have known about Camilla and her decades-long affair with Charles.
Prince Phillip DID note that Diana DID add some much needed height to the family. Lol.
And as for the worthy oriental gentleman with whom she was involved, what a maroon! With all their dough, they were driving a Benz with the Frog equivalent of a salvage title! S'truth, the damn car was a re-built wreck ... with a tipsy chauffeur!
Dodi was the spoiled son of an EXTREMELY ambitious father. Dodi's daddy wanted to be a British citizen, which is STILL not being granted to him. He wanted IN with the Brits. That shows how small and fragile an ego he STILL has.
Dodi, for whatever he was, perhaps gave and got some love and peace with Diana. If she got some love and peace with the raghead Arab, then good on her.
The drunken chauffeur paid for HIS mistake. Too bad he took Diana and Dodi with him. They should NOT have let him drive....and they paid for that error in judgment with THEIR lives.
The kids loved the limelight ... and it burned'em. End of story. RIP.
They weren't "kids," but they DID love the limelight...and it DID burn'em. Heck of a way to go, innit?
End of story.
"This is directly traceable to importing those dratted Germans and handing them the throne of England. The only way to make this right is to restore the Stuarts, the rightful kings of England, and be done with it."
I'll grant you that. I also believe it's time to rescind the law that states a Catholic cannot ascend the throne, but a Muslim can get away with it. In fact, if the Parliament has enough guts, maybe they would do that.
Poor Diana....poor little slut.
And the TRUTH must be always protected by a Bodyguard of Lies .... Remember Hess!
