EVERETT - A statewide computer sweep of voter registration records in Washington found 11,500 voters listed as dead by the state Health Department.
The sweep this month also found 36,000 voters who appear to be registered in two counties. The manager of the new $6 million database project, Pam Floyd, says the names have been flagged for further scrutiny.
Snohomish County immediately canceled the voter registrations for the more than 1,400 dead people.
The state has 3.5 million registered voters.
Monthly sweeps are planned for duplicate and deceased voters. In March, officials plan to create the first comprehensive list of felons whose voting rights are in question.
Heh! Good one!
They are an important part of the Dem voting base, with their own set of special needs. I know this because my grandfather voted Republican until he became a necro-American, and has been voting Democrat ever since.
In Los Angeles, when I voted after my mom died, I noticed she was still listed. I mentioned it to the poll workers and they said "Don't worry, it will be taken care of". Next election she was still listed, so I went home and got her death certificate to show the poll workers. The election after that she was still listed. I made a stink and said "I don't want anyone else voting in her name." Finally after 4 or 5 times of my squawking about it, I noticed in the 2005 initiative election her name was not on the voter list anymore. Ridiculous!
Like Arafat, they are in "stable" condition.
It should be easy to now trace the names of the dead to the names of those that voted and see if any of the deceased voted.
Good question. I did send a letter to the county clerk asking to be taken off the voter roles after I got a jury summons. But most people don't bother.
SEA is one of our favorite cities. We honeymooned there, vacationed there last summer and intend to fish and camp on the Bogachiel River which is in between Port Angeles and Forks, this upcoming summer. (I caught two nice trout there last summer). As much as we love the food, the view, the fish and the Peninsula, we just wish the area wasnt so damn liberal!
Very liberal. The cities of Seattle, Olympia, and Bellingham are disgusting communist, and of course they are governed so pathetically its amusing. Fortunately, like most states, the rural parts are far more conservative.
(BTW the Bogachiel is one of my favorite spots...for trout and steelhead and Salmon)
