This article is not offered so much for it's content, but rather for the curious provincial treatment that the Chronicle gave to the header for this offering. The actual AP article linked to their splash page header is titled: Last hostage in Exeter bank standoff freed, suspect in custody and is geographically accurate.

Exeter California is located in the Central Valley well above the northern boundry of Kern County, the instituional divider for even the obscure rules of state agencies. The vast majority of California's citizenry recognize the Rafael/Tehachapi Mountains as the obvious divider between central and southern California.

By that same logic the residents of Big Sur would be southern Californians. Simply curious.
