I wish that I had access to Lexis/Nexis and could do a check on the number of times in the 80 and 90s that the mention of Gore was close to the word 'moderate'. IIRC he was almost always considered/labeled such by the MSM. In retrospect one must suspect one of 2 explanations; a) he went nutzo after the squeaker in 2000 (nutzo = technical term for needing massive doses of tranquilizers), or b) he was then as we see him now - an immoderate left-wing radical.

Thus the key to remember is that if the MSM touts any Dem as moderate, smell a con. Conversely, any Rep to the right of Snow or Chaffey will be called a 'right-wing reactionary'. This endeth today's history lesson!
