were killed when a semi smashed into the family's car that had stopped for a school bus
I feel very bad for the family but according to what I saw on the news last night and this morning, I don't think it's fair to vilify the semi driver.

The speed limit in that stretch of the highway is 60 mph, and the bus was stopped at an approved bus stop. Stop a school bus in a 60 MPH lane of traffic? That sounds dangerous in any respect.

the 15-year-old girl who was driving illegally. "The same thing would have happened had there been an adult in the car with her. We'd just have one more death in the family."
NOT an excuse for letting a girl drive illegally.
