Wouldn't it be easier for terrorists to cross the Canadian border, or gain access off one of our shorelines??
To: jmc1969
"A top priority of the United States government is to prevent a determined terrorist from crossing the US- Mexico border" Demonstrably false. I hate it when they get their facts that wrong.

Mexico is just making sure that no one takes jobs that "belong" to Mexicans.

"If the US wanted to seal the border with Mexico it could. Look at the demilitarized zone between South Korea and North Korea," Dr. Pantoja says. "The dilemma is really between political will and economic necessity. How do you protect the nation's security while ensuring its economic well-being?" Saying we can't survive without illegal immigration is pretty similar to those in the past who said we can't survive without slaves.
The need for low cost labor doesn't justify the means to the end.

...The Mexican government has "an immense interest in making sure terrorists don't cross from Mexico into the US," says Ben Peres of the FBI office in Tucson, the bureau's liaison here with Mexico on cross-border issues. "If something were to harm the US, it would harm them, too."...
Mexico is at war with us you idiot!

Mexicans are probably the best border guards that we could hope for. They, more then anyone, don't want to kill the goose the laid the golden egg.

In the first three months of this fiscal year, the number of OTMs caught on our southern border surged nearly 30 percent compared with the same period last year!
Apparently the Mexicans are still missing a few.(/sarc)

I had never thought of it that way, but good point. I knew we could survive without all the illegals, but never realized the arguement against stopping illegals really is the same arguement that was made about slavery at one time.

I think some don't realize this is just about the ones stopped on the Mexican side, by Mexican officials. US Border Patrol also caught a large number of OTMs inside the US, but our government will not tell us how many of the OTMs they caught are from Iraq, or other nations that might have terrorists. Also, these figures from Mexico only tell us how many they caught from Iraq, what about all the other unfriendly/chaotic countries? This is just playing games with semantics and trying to confuse those who don't understand into believing Mexico is actually helping the US.

You are wrong about Mexican being the best border guards for so many reasons.
You are right about Mexicans not wanting to kill the goose that lays golden eggs, they don't want to kill the goose, they want to own it. Most believe they already own the Southwest and US Citizens in the SW are the ones that shouldn't be here.

And what is worse is not only is Mexico missing "a few" but our own Border Patrol certainly doesn't catch them all either. Scary isn't it?
