There is little difference between the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis and Iran today.
In 1962, Khrushchev supplied nuke tipped missiles to Cuba. Today, Putin supplies Iran with the design and construction of a nuclear plant (now completed) and is supplying nuclear fuel to Iran.
In 1962, Cuba would not have been a problem without the Soviets. Today, Iran would not be a problem without the Russians.
In 1962, Khrushchev supplied the nukes to threaten American allies in the OAS and America herself. Today, Putin has made Iran a threat to American allies (most notably Israel) and America herself.
The difference? In 1962, JFK was upfront with the American people and said the problem behind Cuba and Castro is the Soviets. Today, George Bush refuses to be upfront with the American people by refusing to name the Russians as the reason why we have this problem in the first place.
I like your analogy.
That's because the President looked into Putin's soul and found someone he could work with.
He was had.
It's not quite that simple. If Russia had not supplied the reactor to Iran, then China or Pakistan probably would have built the reactor for them. I doubt that Russia wants a nuclear-armed Iran either, so there is much more going on here than meets the eye.
