Video footage has emerged showing George Galloway shaking hands with Saddam Hussein's son Uday - a rapist, torturer and convicted murderer.

The video, obtained by The Sun, shows the Respect MP having a 20-minute meeting with Saddam's eldest son in an Iraqi palace in 1999.

In the video, Mr Galloway is seen to greet Uday, shaking his hand twice and calling him "Excellency".

He jokes about losing weight, going bald and failing to give up smoking cigars.

Mr Galloway also orders watching journalists not to publish parts of their conversation.

Finally, according to the paper, he taunts the United States and vows to stick with Uday "until the end".

The video was shot for an Iraqi TV station and was smuggled out of Iraq before the regime fell.

Uday beat and stabbed to death his father's personal valet and food taster, Kemal Hana Gegeo, and was briefly imprisoned by Saddam.

He also raped numerous women, and his victims are believed to have included a visiting Russian ballerina.

And as head of the Iraqi Olympic Committee, he oversaw the imprisonment and torture of Iraqi athletes who were deemed not to have performed to expectations.

Uday was shot dead by US soldiers in 2003. He was 39.

Cat's whiskers: George and Rula at play

Rula is with George in the living area. He is on the sofa and she is on the rug. Big Brother has suggested they try some animal role play exercises to warm up for the tasks ahead.

George: "Would you like me to be the cat?"

The case can be made that Galloway IS a killer.

What else could one call a person who tries to shield, protect and defend a fully documented mass murderer and torturer like Saddam Hussein and keep him in power.

Let's be real here please.

In a perfect world, the family of one of Uday's many victims would kidnap George Galloway, spirit him away to some undisclosed location, and then after weeks of speculating by the media, release a video showing Georgie, fully awake and shrieking, being fed into an industrial shredding machine, just as Uday used to do to scores of helpless Iraqis. I'd be willing to bet that Galloway's final scream would sound something like Howard Dean's infamous "YAAAAARRRRRRGHHHHHHH".

I say with utmost confidence that Galloway is Hellbound, his ticket is paid for, all that remains is for his ticket to be punched, so he can have a sentimental little reunion with his pal Uday.

Over a barbeque pit, of course.

What's even sadder is the way this reflects on the "progressive" left that were on their knees for this guy.

The Socialist Workers Party, a Trotskyite outfit which makes up part of Galloway's "Respect" coalition, once denounced Big Brother as a symptom of a degraded culture obsessed with capitalism and celebrity. Now that Galloway has appeared on it, they've been forced into an astonishing u-turn which truly makes them look like idiots. I saw Oliver Kamm lacerate one of these blighters with a smile on Sky News not too long ago.

Unfortunately, the last the American public has seen of Galloway was his performance in front of Senator Coleman's committee. No one knows about the Big Brother fiascos nor this connection to Uday.

This leads me to conclude that Galloway will be over here on the lecture circuit when his Big Brother stint is done, to rebuild his reputation and collect lots of cash from leftist Americans.
