was on active duty only a very short period during the many years of Vietnam.
AD prior to the Viet Nam War as well and unless you've seen his OQR you don't know how much AD time he has.

oops-I guess "this guy" would be you. Outstanding. Murtha has especially rubbed us military types the wrong way. He is a disgrace.

IMHO this is the wrong way to go. This isn't a Swiftee situation where Murtha's fellow Marines in his Vietnam unit have a bone to pick with him. This just makes it appear that any former military who criticizes the administration will have his war record attacked. This guy may well be right, but it's a bad image. Murtha wore the uniform and served honorably.
What Murtha has been saying about the Iraq war and the men and women fighting it is a disgrace to the uniform he wore and ought to be attacked. That's where this should be fought.

He was on active duty for training earlier. When I say active duty, I mean assigned to an active unit in the field.
If you have more information on his active duty time, I would love the hear about it. I personally think he is nothing but a politician. He is no Chesty Puller or Audie Murphy. I just don't like it when people like him try to throw his military career up when he didn't have much of one. I really can't think of many politicians who had distinguished military careers.

One of his MOSs on active duty was as a DI at Parris Island and again, unless you've seen his entire OQR, which he should release, or his DD214 you're speculating as to how much time he spent on active duty and as an active reservist.

I do not know guys why are you getting so orgasmic about this moron Morano. All what he is doing is giving liberals a life saver so they can shift the debate from Murtha treasonous statements on Iraq that is greatly damaging the democrats on the national security issue, to this absolutely meaningless issue about Murtha medals that will generate a sympathy toward him. It is incredibly stupid politically to go this route.

I disagree. Murtha has stated by virtue of his service and his medals that he is more qulaified to comment on Iraq than Cheney, Rumsfield or Rice. He himself raised his record as a pertinent point in this issue and therefore it is fair game to research it and publicize any discrepancies in the record.

Because CNN and liberals are gloating over the fact that they have now an opportunity to shift the debate from Murtha "cut and run" policy in Iraq that is destroying the democrats to this silly issue of medals that will give the liberals such an opportunity to shift the debate, generate sympathy to Murtha, and accuse the Republicans that they are smearing him, although it is not the Republicans who are doing it but a nut job called Morano who operates an idiotic website.

Murtha's "treasonous statements" are getting nothing but accolades and praise in the press.
Using your logic, are you stating it was meaningless for the Swifties to raise Kerry's medal issue and that it only generated sympathy for him? That controversy might have turned the tide in getting Bush elected.
Murtha has used those medals, as did Kerry, throughout his political career to get elected to public office. He didn't receive them until much later and has stated he didn't ask for them but they have the request with his name on it.
Murtha is another polpimp using a trumped up war record to score political gain. IMHO, this whole stunt is nothing more than an attempt to gain the media spotlight for a run at the dem prez nomination.

You must be nuts if you believe Murthas statements are destroying the dems. In fact, they are galvanizing around them to discredit Bush, the War on Iraq and use it as a linchpin in not only the upcoming midterms but '08.
Creating doubt on the credibility of their mouthpiece is an effective strategy and Murtha has some skeletons in his closet.

That controversy might have turned the tide in getting Bush elected. In fact the Swifties damaged John Kerry not because they exposed his medal record but because they exposed his utter treason against the Vietnam Vets and the country with his anti-war record in the early 1970s. It will be foolish for us to think otherwise. Morano is not John ONeil and he must understand this. I just hope that this issue will remain within the CNS news sphere and not to be taken by our much more influential radio talk show hosts.
Bob, we are not going to score political points on this but at the contrary we will lose some. Just let it go.
