It's the American dream -- buying a home for your family. And now you don't have to be in the country legally to own one.
Wells Fargo is first major California lender to offer home loans to illegal immigrants, 10News reported.
"We're not required to ask the immigration status of any of our customers. That is the responsibility of the federal government," Wells Fargo bank representative Jerry Ruiz said.
The program is called "Celebrate Home" and Wells Fargo says it complies with all federal regulations, 10News reported.
Applicants do need a tax identification number issued by the Internal Revenue Service for people who do not have Social Security numbers.
Ruiz said the program is targeted to Wells Fargo customers who have been an account holder for at least six months and who can show proof of residency for two years in the United States -- along with proof that they have filed and reported income taxes using an individual taxpayer identification number.
There are an estimated 10 to 12 million illegal workers in the United States.
Critics say even though the program is legal, it sends the wrong message.
"Any time you have a bank institution lending money to help people buy homes when they're not even allowed to be in the country, it is something that runs contrary to the law. It aids and abets people who are breaking the law," said Ira Melman of the Federation of Immigration Reform.
A bill is being introduced in Congress that would make it illegal to issue loans to illegal immigrants, according to 10News.
Gee, you are REALLY making an effort to misunderstand the words.
The Children of those here Illegally are STILL not US Citizens, as their parents were NOT under "U.S. Jurisdiction". Allow me to simplify.
An Illegal Mexican Infiltrator to the US cannot travel to say, Germany, and then go to the US Embassy for aid/protection. They are NOT US Citizens, and would be referred to the Mexican Embassy!
That is the crux. American LAWS apply to ILLEGAL INFILTRATORS, but they are NOT US CITIZENS, hence they are not under "U.S. Jurisdiction"! An illegal arrested appeals to the Mexican Consulate!
It is a DELIBERATE misinterperetation of the 14th Ammendment that has allowed this sham to continue, with a wink and a nod from the Ruling Eeee-lites who LOVE "Cheap Lettuce" and Global Hegemony!
You can spin and scam all you want. The profits from an illegal venture are ILLEGAL...hence we can and SHOULD confiscate any and all property/cash/investments from Illegals here in the US.
Want precedent? Go drive in Texas or Florida with $25,000 in cash on you. The Policia pull you over, and CONFISCATE your dinero! Even if you rightfully earned that money!
Then spend the next 6 month to a year fighting to get all your property back!
Or have a mansion that you bought with drug money. When the FBI/BATF/DEA raid your house, they take EVERYTHING and claim it all as the illegal profits from an illegal venture.
So if an Illegal has a job here illegally, then any and all income/property/gains from that job should also be considered Illegal gains!
Now, THAT's a valid reason for a boycott ; )
I am "gloating" about accepted American history behind the 14th Amendment?!
Give it two months - it *WILL* be illegal. See thomas.gov for recently introduced legislation that WILL DENY BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP.
A sad note on this is that the probability of one of these illegals getting tossed out of the country is so low the bank doesn't have much to lose.
Hey, they are pandering to the homosexuals too... so maybe they are just Diverse. Well, they can kiss my good diverse dollars - to the tune of six figures a year - GOOD BYE! And the way they are fighting for my business, it's been a pleasure telling them exactly WHY they don't get my money.
I don't really need to respond to you anymore - people far more knowledgeable than me are busy kicking your ass on this thread - and making you look like a complete fool in the process. Thanks for showing your true colors.
Probably a muuch better rate than you or I could get and don't be surprised to learn that the closing costs are being paid under some other program that was designed to "keep the construction of new homes strong."
There are "Policia" in Texas and Florida confiscating legal money?! I'm not following that one - as for "The Children of those here Illegally are STILL not US Citizens, as their parents were NOT under "U.S. Jurisdiction", as long as you understand the federal government (including the U.S. Supreme Court) disagree with you, that's about all I can do.
Just as long as you realize anything short of a Constitutional Amendment ratified by 3/4ths of the States will be challenged as un-Constitutional.
"Criminal" would be closer to the truth.
Again - see "economic decision" above. We don't force banks to verify all their other customers are not breaking other laws, right?
Money is the root of all [kinds of] evil.
O.K. then - have a nice day - thanks for impugning my mother.
Agreed - unfortunately, Wells Fargo is not capable of going to heaven or hell, so we have laws on the books to hold corporations accountable - can you identify any such law Wells Fargo is violating?
And I bet they are all fixed rates. Maybe they don't have to pay property taxes either.
Good for you, but I did not ask about your relations.
