I have to disagree. I think it was a mistake to cast an actor who is a homosexual activist in a lead role. Similarly, I think it was a mistake to cast James Brolin as Ronald Reagan. If an actor is closely associated with certain ideas, there is a point when no level of acting can blot out those ideas. I have known for sometime that Chad Allen is a gay activist. I simply can't imagine him playing a Christian. I also can't imagine Martin Sheen playing George Bush. Maybe my imagination is limited.

Wow..you must be all hollywood all the time...I've never even heard of this guy and certainly didn't recognize him while watching the movie. He's certainly not a well known "star". I don't believe anyone outside some christian factions were even discussing the actors or their personal lives. The film tells a story, it seems purposely void of celebrity.

I actually agree about that because we want to present our Lord and His works in the best possible light. They clearly could have found a better role model for the role.

Having said that, I was merely agreeing with the other poster's comment that, although we Christians need to walk in the light and be the salt of the Earth, we need to reach out to non-Christians in a way that does not compromise our beliefs. I also agreed with the poster that some Christians are legalistic on certain issues that are not indicative of whether a person is or isn't a Christian.

It is apparent you have never done any acting or have any experience with the theater.
A trained and dedicated actor can separate the "real" person from the "stage" person.

Allen is, however, hardly known to the public. Only if the matter is played up does not become an issue. It would be sad, of course, if he were to diss the film. Gays are unbalanced enough to do things like that, but he might try to parley it into more work.
