Guidant says finds more older pacemakers at risk
January 23, 2006 CHICAGO (Reuters) -
Guidant Corp. , the object of a bidding war between Johnson & Johnson and Boston Scientific Corp. , on Monday said it has identified another batch of older-model pacemakers that are at risk of malfunction.
Guidant said the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has told the company it may consider the information an expansion of the original Class I recall on the pacemaker models. The device maker recommended physicians reassess their patients due to the discovery of additional devices with the potential defect.
