Well how about this- this will blow your mind-- most of what we are is software.
What kind of software? Low-level or high level? Are we like C++ or assembly? Or something that's supposed to be truly multiplatform, like Java?
Our spirits are just that- living software
What's a "spirit"?
An extremely complex thing, a spirit. It has no mass, and isn't affected by gravity, time, acceleration etc.
So how can it be measured? If there's no means to measure it then there's no reason to consider it.

Oh no, the fact that it exists both in, and out of this universe means that it is very important to consider a spirit. It is timeless, and will not pass with your body. You have to decide where you will end up. Not many choices- only 2 in fact.

A spirit is of God. Only God can measure our spirits. We're not privy to God's ways nor are we of His dimension. I'm not very religious, but that's the way I understand it. I hope it makes sense to you and the others, because it does - makes sense, that is.
With God everything is possible!
