Terri Schiavo’s Husband Re-Married in Catholic Church

SAFETY HARBOUR, Florida, January 23, 2006 (LifeSiteNew.com) – Michael Schiavo, who had his disabled wife Terri killed last March by refusing her food and water, was re-married last Saturday in the Roman Catholic Church of Espiritu Santo in Florida.

Schiavo married Jodi Centonze. He had two children with her during the years he worked towards achieving Terri’s death.

Terri Schiavo was killed in March 2005, in spite of her family’s strenuous fight to prevent the removal of her feeding tube and water. Terri was left severely brain damaged after collapsing at age 26. Although medical authorities said she was in an irreversible “vegetative” state, her family maintained that she was able to interact with them, and they sought to have authority for her care transferred to them.

On Saturday, Terri Schiavo’s sister Suzanne Vitadamo spoke out against the Catholic bishops of Florida, saying Terri may not have been killed if the bishops would have supported the fight to protect her life.

Speaking at a “Stand Up for Life” rally in South Carolina, Ms. Vitadamo said if the Florida bishops had stepped forward and denounced what was taking place "there would have been such an enormous outcry of support from parishioners in our diocese and from Catholics around the world that my sister could very well be alive today."

Bishop Robert Lynch of St. Petersburg, Florida, outraged Catholics when he offered his only statement during the 13 days it took Terri to die from dehydration, encouraging her family to reconcile with Michael Schiavo in the name of “peace.”

The Catholic Church of Espiritu Santo, where Michael Schiavo’s second marriage took place, is in Bishop Lynch’s diocese of St. Petersburg.

While the Florida Bishops dismally failed to intervene and speak out in defense of Terri and of the value of all human life, the Vatican issued repeated condemnations of the decision to cause her death.

In four different appeals, Vatican officials sought protection for her life and spoke out against the inhumanity of withholding food and water.

“Without the tube which is providing life-giving hydration and nutrition, Terri Schiavo will die. But it is not that simple. She will die a horrible and cruel death,” wrote Cardinal Renato Martino. “She will not simply die; she will have death inflicted upon her over a number of terrible days, even weeks. How can anyone who claims to speak of the promotion and protection of human rights - of human life - remain silent?”

Suzanne Vitadamo warned listeners at the rally about the implications of Terri’s death for all vulnerable people.

"Our society has shifted to a quality of life mentality and has lost sight of the value (and) sacredness of all human life," Vitadamo said. "We now as a nation are deciding when it is OK or not OK to kill those suffering from disabilities."

No, he didn't murder her. But...I doubt the true believer will ever realize that.

The people who are in favor of Schiavo and his longterm mistress getting married in the Catholic Church are the same ones who feel sorry for the Menendez brothers because they are orphans.

FYI

According to Cindy Shook, Michael's girlfriend 1 1/2 years after Terri was hurt, Michael Schiavo said:
"How the hell should I know we never spoke about this, my God I was only 25 years old. How the hell should I know? We were young. We never spoke of this."

http://www.sweetliberty.org/bulletins/terri/lkl1.htm

CALLER: Yes. Does it bother you that the death is so slow? Maybe Dr. Kevorkian-style would be a faster, more peaceful way?
SCHIAVO: Removing somebody's feeding is very painless. It is a very easy way to die. Probably the second better way to die, being the first being an aneurysm.
And it doesn't bother me at all. I've seen it happen.

I had to do it with my own parents.

When they attempted to starve Terri to death previously, and Terri's sibblings tried to have her fed orally, Florida's Judge Greer said:

"I don't want anyone trying to feed that girl.
The law of the case is that she is going to die."

Terri was murdered.

Where is there evidence that the priest supported euthanasia?

Where is there evidence that the Catholic church took a strong and vocal stand against the murder of Terry Schiavo?

Did you miss the statements coming from John Paul II and the Vatican? The statement from the US Conference of Bishops?

I knew I was wasting my time with the cult of Terri. I keep swearing to avoid these threads.

I called the parish office where they were "married". It seemed I was the first to call, because the secretary sounded a bit confused. She put me through to the voicemail for the pastor's secretary. She never called back, but she heard what I had to say. I then wrote to the Vatican. Can't hurt...

Florida's Bishop Lynch is a disgrace.

On what basis?

I continue to believe he purposely did what he could to hasten Terri Schaivo's death because the other side in that case had something on him. Lynch is diabolical or he is being black-mailed or both.

Engaging in supposition doesn't cut it.

The RC church should have excommunicated Mikey long ago.

Problem with that is, he was Lutheran.

He does not see his sin in his previous which were many and deliberate of a long period of time.

That's not for you to decide, but you are entitled to your opinion, even if I disagree with it. Reconciling and repenting for any previous sins is up to him and his Maker to tackle. You're just a casual observer armed with an opinion.

He did not claim the RCC as his church, but some looie-liberal Lutheran denomination.

A broad brush you paint with there. Not all Lutherans go around with their screws loose.

Conversely, just because some Catholic priests got themselves involved in abuses of young male parishoners, does not and should not pertain to all practicing Catholics of good faith.

"" The "Michael murdered Terri" contingent will be the Nazi Hunters of this soap opera. They'll keep it alive." "

"Good. The people that want to bury it will just have to deal. We are not going away, not now, not ever. "

"I'll never understand what moral relativsts are doing on Free Republic..."

I agree! We aren't going away, not now, not ever! :)

You don't know how heartened I am that so many here and across the board that are speaking out on behalf of life. :)

I was afraid we had a minority of death cultists, a portion of sleeping sheep, and then us, the pro-lifers but it seems that there are alot more of the pro-lifers than the death cultists or uncaring people.

"...the decision of the local bishop is authoritative..."

Ummm. Isn't that kind of like a judge who flaunts the law or ignores it? For instance, FL law requires a guardian to present a yearly written statement of intentions for those under their care.

M. Schiavo broke that law and Greer gave him a pass, just one of many.

Greer disregarded the law and the priest and any bishop who permitted Michael Schiavo and Jodi Cenzone to marry in a Catholic ceremony did likewise.

Both created scandal.

You may be right. I happen to believe in ultimate justice and what doesn't get righted here gets righted in the hereafter. If there has been true repentance on their parts, I give them best wishes. If they are manipulating the system here, it will come out in the wash "up there" for them and for anyone who facilitates such manipulation.

There is rarely justice in the judicial system.

I discovered that after 3 year probate case and the perpetrator never did any jail time after stealing more than $800,000. from my father and my aunt.

I am so sorry. I do a lot of probate work and I know things like that can happen.
