It appears there is a large group of Republicans who are not the least bit conservative, just Republicans.

I see pragmatism, not party loyalty. Pragmatism is what allows politics to proceed. Although I'm certain that my political views are 100% correct, I'm just as certain that I can't find more than 5% of the population that will agree with me on every point. Thus I must be pragmatic and form alliances. I must also prioritize and think long term.

Let's try an analogy. I'm hungry for steak. The Republicans are offering Big Macs, the Dems are offering grub worms. I can work with the Republicans, eat my Big Mac, and try to get steak on the menu in the future, OR I can attack the Republicans and refuse to help them until I get my steak. The latter, however, will likely result in not only no steak, but no Big Mac. I hope you like grub worm.

If I had a dollar for everyone that that said they weren't voting for Bush during elections because he was to moderate, to left, or just not conservative enough I would had quite a few dollars. You analogy would have come in handy during election time. Also I love the way the flamers get that cute vicious gleam in their text when they have a new target to pounce on. It makes one proud of the Christian charity here.
