I sort of "grew up" in New Mexico and love it as well. However, Maryland has its positives as well. The American history that I found to be so prevalent throughout the mid-Atlantic was beyond incredible! While in Maryland I learned that my mom's ancestral families came to Maryland in the 1600s on their way to Texas in the 1800s. The trip took them almost 200 years. From Texas I was the first to move on to New Mexico (1960s).

The east coast does have a lot of history. Daughter lived there for awhile and took in a lot of it. Was very interesting and we saw lots when we visited. The west is too young to have that kind of history but...it DOES have history and good history at that. Glad you were able to trace your ancestors. That's really nice.

I love Santa Fe because it is full of history as well. Taos is nice and QUIET which I like. Love Arizona but it is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO busy and so much traffic anymore. Lived there for a few years too. Love going back east cause it is going home for us but...love the west.

My family history is the same as yours. I am not sure where they landed in America but they made the same pilgrimage across the country. Every other generation moved west until they arrived in Texas in the 1820's. We all have stayed here. How were you able to find out where your family landed?
