I say if the enemy uses it's own children like this then we have no responsibility to avoid making them casualties. We arent going to win any war by being nice. I could care less about their hearts and minds when it comes to protecting our cities from getting nuked. Truman was faced with a million US casulaties invading Japan. What steps did he take to protect Japanese children in Hiroshima and Nagasaki? People need to get real.
I like to point out that if the US was going to sustain a million casualties invading Japan, then Japan would have sustained probably at least twice that number, so the nukes saved Japanese life as well as American. Just because that was probably not his prime consideration at the time doesn't make it less true.
