Given that choice, I would head for Mexico and enter the U.S. illegally if I had to. With the clothes on my back. My land and money will do me no good if I'm dead - and Mugabe has taken most of the whites' land, and the money's worthless.
I understand your point. Mugabe has not starting killing white people -- yet. Even though he's a barbaric thug, maybe he's not that stupid.
On a related note, I have a friend who just returned from a mission trip to S. Africa. She said it was sad to see that the government there had given once fertile, productive land to black people who had not a clue how to farm it. So it's lying fallow and those blacks who now own the land are as impoverished as ever.
That's what is also occuring in Zimbabwe and why there is so much starvation. I hope S. Africa doesn't eventually travel down the same trail as Zimbabwe is. It would be pretty ironic that the "civilized" world pressured S. Africa so long and hard to end apartheid and then have that country end up way worse than it was. Not that I agree with apartheid, but maybe there was a better way to resolve that issue.
