God Bless Canada
Politics Canada ^ | Jan 20, 2006 | John Chuckman

I hadn't realized until recently that Stephen Harper was using "God Bless Canada!" as a tagline for his speeches.

Some may think this a harmless, or even beneficent, expression for a politician to use, but for those with knowledge of history, nothing could be a more frightening.

I do believe we all know to whom Harper is tipping his hat with these words. George Bush, author of two wars which have killed more than a hundred thousand innocent people and the champion of an ugly set of repressive laws in the United States, says "God Bless America!" every chance he gets

The Liberals in Canada have finally stepped right off the planet.

There's a chance they may well disappear as a viable political entity.

What power they asign to President Bush - that he could own the public statement of asking for God's blessing for one's country - amazing ...

"God bless America."

"God bless Canada."

Gosh, there is a resemblance. Pretty sinister stuff, eh?

If they're so against God, maybe the libs can try officially banning all references to Godf by political figures under threat of impeachment.... Lets see how that will fly with the electorate.

You gotta pity the Libs in Canada though, so deep in BS and yet no God to pray to for calm and sanity and solace....*tch,tch*

"Not a lot of Canadians understand that a large portion of Alberta Crown land was taken up by Americans looking for farmland at the beginning of the Twentieth Century. There was a heavy in-migration of American attitudes from the province's beginning. This was reinforced by the development of oil and gas in the 1940s and 1950s, and has been reinforced further still with the recent development of the tarsands."

God Bless Alberta. And, God help this John Chuckman person ... he sorely needs it.

...and Ronald Reagan used it first. (I don't remember whether Poppy Bush did, too.)

Really, some of these guys would hold their breath and smother to death, just to be different from us.

Stephen Harper says "God Bless Canada."

George W. Bush says "God Bless America."

"God Bless Canada."

In Canada.

What else does Harper have in common with Bush?

We don't know. He's not saying.

Wow, I normally gloss right over these kinds of posts. Don't typically care to read the screed from some lefty presswich, but this is particularly inflammatory. I never knew that Harper and Bush were really invoking the Nazis and all they stood for when they asked God to bless their countries.

Here in the states, we don't often get to sample your media's horse droppings, instead, we are fed something that is not quite as vile, but it is horse dropping nonetheless.

Name calling at its best, but beyond that, I think this writer believes Bush and Harper want troops goose stepping across North America asking everyone for their papers and killing jews, dissenters and the handicapped. I am surprised this guy didn't suggest that each has labs located in various parts of each country where gross experiments are performed on twins.

It is my fervent hope that your country is able to elect a conservative government and this author gets exposed to the dark side (/sarcasm). What it really tells me is this guy and his evil ilk are scared to death to have to deal with a conservative government. He is lashing out in desperation, claiming that Harper will kill the elderly and restrict travel for anyone who isn't blonde haired and blue eyed. We have been witnessing our own media's reaction to prolonged conservative governing and their bias has been plainly exposed. It has polarized our country, but at least the lefty media has no moral high ground any longer. Conservative media, mostly in the form of radio has saved us from being ill informed. Good Luck up there to the north and

God Bless Canada.

"Religion does not belong in public life, and Stephen Harper's efforts to drag it in says a great deal about him to those choosing to listen. This principle is as much a defense of freedom of religion as anything else: millions of Christians have been slain by other Christians over subtle differences of belief."

Typical communist dogma, just another reason to loathe Canada.

The media is going all out to keep Paul Martin as Prime Minister.

A reporter in quebec threw a fit because security for a conservative candidate grabbed her.

Media is speculating that this will hurt the conservatives badly in quebec.

Media is making a big deal of harper not granting an interview for a short time today.

Paul Martin makes Chirac look like a stateman.

He is pathetic with his non stop anti american rhetoric and his harper is so "scary".

Shame on Canada for the polls being this close with such a loser like Martin.

"What else does Harper have in common with Bush? We don't know. He's not saying.

Saw Harper in an interview last night and someone brought up abortion. He said he wasn't at either extreme right OR left of the argument. My guess is that he favors it in extreme situations (rape, incest only).

i.e. middle of the road.
