Professor Robert J. Aumann, who earned the 2005 Nobel Prize for Economics, strongly criticized the state's treatment of Jewish settlers who were evicted from the Gaza Strip and northern West Bank as part of the disengagement plan in remarks before the Herzliya Conference on Saturday.
In his speech, Aumann argued that the settlers, whom he insisted on referring to as "deportees", have been neglected and abandoned by the state and its institutions.
Aumann said that the state has been criminally negligent in the manner in which it cares for the settlers' well-being, most of whom have yet to find permanent residence.
"The care for the deportees represents a national disgrace," Aumann said. "This is criminal negligence ... half a year sitting in hotels without conditions and have not come to temporary or permanent residence. Many families have not seen one measly agura [cent] of compensation and those who have received compensation are forced to use it for their very existence."

Warning! This is a high-volume ping list.
Gee, he's on the wrong side! No Nobel Peace Prize for him!
On the other hand, if he criticized Bush and accused Bush of war crimes and apartheid, he'd be at the top of the list for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Vitaly Ginzburg, one of the 2003 winners of the Nobel Prize in physics, has both come out in support of Israel AND the Iraq War. His opinions on those matters are expressed in his autobiography on the official Nobel Prize website. Of course, he's Russian, and so knows from personal experience what tyranny really means.
Right on.
