Sad to say the abortion train has left the station a long time ago. First trimester abortion isn't going away anytime soon - even if Roe is overturned, I can't think of one state that would outright outlaw first trimester abortions.

This sends one-issue pro lifers into fits, but its just the truth.

I agree. But republicans better start explaining that the goal in overturning Roe is to return abortion to the states - overturning Roe will not outlaw abortion across the US. alot of folks don't understand that. and I worry that if we have a republican candidate who is honest about that, the pro-lifers will refuse to accept it.

It is true. And it's a difficult area for compromise, since over 90% of abortions take place in the first trimester. All the hand-wringing is over "scissors in the back of the head" but that's very much the exception, and nothing much would change if those were banned.
