"We all better chip in and get Allen a personality before the primaries."

He comes across as quite personable in the interviews that I've seen.

Oh no, is he that BORING in person? I haven't seen too much of him actually. He sounds good in print. Well, they like him in Virginia. The new Rasmussen poll has him with a big lead:

January 18, 2006--Virginia Senator George Allen (R) leads Northern Virginia businessman Harris Miller (D) by 30 percentage points in his bid for re-election. Miller just recently filed to enter the race and has not had the opportunity for much campaigning at this point. He is the only Democrat so far to step forward and challenge Allen. While November is a long way away, this data suggests that Miller has a very steep hill to climb. Allen is viewed favorably by 70% of Virginia voters and unfavorably by 25%. For Miller, those numbers are 38% favorable, 31% unfavorable, and 31% not sure.

"Do you support private school vouchers?

"Yes, I support vouchers as a state and local option. Washington, DC is under federal jurisdiction, and I supported it for DC. Now, about 1,700 students have vouchers under the DC Choice program, which they can carry to private schools. I don't think the Federal Government should mandate it, but it also shouldn't prevent it. The money should go with the student, if the state and localities wish.

There's a deal breaker, I don't support school vouchers. He says he believes in stopping illegals, but supports "guest worker program".I DON'T.

Actually, I think his personality is his strong point.

He is more personable then most of his potential competitors and is very hard to villanize, reminds me of a John Coryn on decalf.

I like the way to paraphrases and uses quotes from Reagan and Jefferson and other patriots of the past.

It adds alot to him.

indeed. and he's not out front on any issues that I see. he voted for the McCain AQ bill of rights torture bill. and I think when pressed, we are going to find out that he is willing to tolerate abortion for adult women in the first 10 weeks - which is going to send the right to life GOPers into a frenzy.

Oh give me a break. I've known George Allen for over 20 years. Wife and I have both worked for him.

He is one of the most genuinely likeable politicians out there.
