Steele could make a great VP candidate with Allen or Rudy, if he has the resume to be POTUS. I don't know much about him.

Doubt it.He didn't run for majority leader because he didn't want to compromise.Whip would be nothing but compromise. Those stories about WHip are from Boehner and or Blunt who want to make a deal to save their hide.

Well, I looked for it and can't find it; I read it on here somewhere in the last few weeks; basically, Reagan doubled government spending and Bush is less than a quarter, off the top of my head. Are you adjusting for inflation?
Reagan had to deal with Tip O'Niel. W got to deal with Delay.
Also, Reagan gave us no new entitlements, then again neither did Bush I or Clinton.
We'll have the perscription drug benefit to haunt us for years. Or as Ronald Reagan used to say, and I paraphrase "the closest thing to eternal life on earth is a government progam"

Good man.
I'd love to see Governor (I hope) Blackwell and Senator Steele (I hope) on the top of the GOP ticket in, say, 2016...

I'll tell you one thing for sure, the DNC is terrified of Mr. Steele, and terrified of the political concept that he represents.

Kind of a negative (not a huge one).
A leadership post would build his profile. Remember, if Newt had wanted to run for President in 1996, he could have! In fact he'd have done better than Dole, I bet.

What do you think of Steele from Maryland?I like him alot, good character, warm, good ideas.
I don't like his view on the death penalty, but I understand his consistancy and his reasoning.
The only knock on him I have is that he doesn't have the attack attitude yet, he needs to get a little tougher and hit back on the racial crap being flung at him.
I do like his chances of winning, if he faces Cardin, its a nail biter,if he faces the other joker, he'll definatly win.

"George Allen's record on life issues stacks up against any conservative's out there."
just two questions and that is it.
What about his position on life compared to other conservatives?
What about his ideology on life compared to others?

I'm not doing anything except citing something I remember reading on FR lately.
And you know I do NOT do economics, period.

I really, really, really would like to see George Allen nominated in 2008.
Because think what an awesome presidential debate drinking game that would be:
Do a shot every time Allen uses a sports metaphor!!!

That's all he ever DOES, which is why I can't understand so many things he says. Making a drinking game out of that would put me in "The Betty" pretty fast.
To: Gipper08
We've been over this before Gipper. His
record on life issues is as darn near perfect as your going to get.
NARAL thinks him "problematic."
The problem for most one issue pro-lifers is that Alan Keyes isn't electable and the Apostle Paul isn't running.
And the bottom line is, no one out there who has even a prayer of winning the nomination or beyond that the White House, has a better record on life issues.
