WASHINGTON (Reuters) - An unexpected endorsement from al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden has resulted in a huge jump in sales for a book by a critic of U.S. foreign policy.

William Blum's "Rogue State: A Guide to the World's Only Superpower" was ranked 209,000 on Amazon.com's sales list before bin Laden mentioned it in an audiotape released on Thursday. By Friday, the book was No. 30 on the Amazon.com list.
Bin Laden said al Qaeda group was preparing more attacks in the United States but also told Americans, "It is useful for you to read the book 'The Rogue State.'"
"I was quite surprised and even shocked and amused when I found out what he'd said," Blum said on Friday in an interview with Reuters Television in his Washington apartment.
"I was glad. I knew it would help the book's sales and I was not bothered by who it was coming from.
"If he shares with me a deep dislike for the certain aspects of U.S. foreign policy, then I'm not going to spurn any endorsement of the book by him. I think it's good that he shares those views and I'm not turned off by that."
Blum said some friends and family members were afraid the bin Laden endorsement might endanger him but he said there had been no threats and he was not concerned.
Blum's 320-page book, which was published in 2000, begins with a chapter titled "Why Do Terrorists Keep Picking on the United States." The first sentence says, "Washington's war on terrorism is as doomed to failure as its war on drugs has been."
Other chapters in "The Rogue State" are titled "America's Gift to the World -- the Afghan Terrorist Alumni," "The U.S. Versus the World at the United Nations" and "How the CIA Sent Nelson Mandela to Prison for 28 Years."
Blum's other books include "Killing Hope: U.S. Military and CIA Interventions Since World War II," "Freeing the World to Death: Essays on the American Empire" and "West Bloc Dissident: A Cold War Political Memoir."
The UN is not "the world," any more than the US Senate is "the United States." It does not represent the people.
Has anyone ever spotted Buchanan and Blum in the same room?
It won't be the New York Times.
They only print what somebody sends them or what they can make up!
So, when endorsed by the self-admitted murder of 3,000+ innocent Americans, and the direct, abject, deadly enemy of our nation and freedom, this guys response is that he is, "well pleased, glad, and as good as being on Oprah"
God help us and preserve us from such internal enemies and abettors of abject evil.
And the irony is, he'll never realize the significance of that. People like him and Chomsky and Oliver Stone and Michael Moore... they trash this country and this government knowing that we are civilized and won't do anything to them. And they do it to give advantage to the communist, fascist, and theocratic regimes of the world who have no equivalent of a Chomsky, Stone, Moore, or Blum... because they've already been found, imprisoned, tortured, executed...
Which tells me all I need to know about Mr. Blum.
I saw him this morning on Fox and Friends, Weekend. Everything is OUR fault.
Blum is an avid Bush hater and frequent guest of that program for nut jobs called coast-TO-coast.
Surprised that FNC would give him the time of day.
OTOH, it is good to know who the enemy is, and with whom they consort.
Perhaps Osama should also suggest that people start wearing chickens on their heads- it'd be alot easier....
That says more about Mr.Blum than he is willing to admit.
"I was glad. I knew it would help the book's sales and I was not bothered by who it was coming from.
Pathetic cretin. He hates America so much that he's willing and happy to accept the endorsement of a monster with the blood of 3000 innocents on his hands.

"Perhaps Osama should also suggest that people start wearing chickens on their heads- it'd be alot easier...."
By Friday, the book was No. 30 on the Amazon.com list.
Will Osama expect a share of the profits?
' "If he shares with me a deep dislike for the certain aspects of U.S. foreign policy, then I'm not going to spurn any endorsement of the book by him. I think it's good that he shares those views and I'm not turned off by that." '
Amazing!
I posted this over on a related thread, here it is again:
Are any of these MSM interviewers raising Blum's 1970's work with Philip Agee in revealing the identities of covert CIA operatives working overseas? Are they mentioning his foul inspiration for the Intelligence Identities Protection Act, which had the MSM in such a lather due to Valerie Plame (who wasn't even covert)?
I wouldn't have considered this angle on Blum, but for the fact that a childhood neighbor was CIA, was covert, was overseas, and was assassinated directly due to his "outing" by Blum and his seditious pal Phil Agee.
Another book by that lisping little "hate America" dork. His audience tells it all.
Sad. Our "Patriot's History of the United States" got up to #35 on Amazon, largely thanks to my appearance on Laura Ingraham's show, but now we know who the real mover and shaker is when it comes to selling books.
I had no idea Blum worked with Agee! Wow... there's no question whose side he's on.
