Tehran is planning a nuclear weapons test before the Iranian New Year on March 20, 2006 says a group opposed to the regime in Tehran.

The Foundation for Democracy citing sources in the U.S and Iran offered no further information.

The FDI quotes sources in Iran that the high command of the Revolutionary Guards Air Force have issued new orders to Shahab-3 missile units, ordering them to move mobile missile launchers every 24 hours in view of a potential pre-emptive strike by the U.S. or Israel. The order was issued Tuesday, Jan. 16.

The group says the launchers move only at night, and have been instructed to change their positions "in a radius of 30 to 35 kilometers."

I'd like to see a second, independent confirmation as well. Although I personally believe that the Iranians already have some sort of bomb - otherwise they wouldn't be so bold - even the most imminent Israeli estimates gave their program a few more years. Was every intelligence agency in the world wrong again? That's frightening.

I seriously doubt Iran will have a nuclear weapon prior to the end of this year. Prior to that the US will act to take out the Iranian program.

but, bttt, bttt, bttt....I thought they didn't have any nukes to test. I'll wait for further information from credible, specific sources, before getting too riled up.

Of course, it wouldn't have to be a nuke of their own development in order to make the ruse work. Just speculation, but a "lost" Russian nuke, or a borrowed Paki nuke would work just as well.

Cool. In a spirit of international togetherness, let's test a few dozen of ours over there, too.

Don't pay attention, Garry, such articles is working of instigators of war.. If Iran begin enrichment works, first warhead can be in 9 month, after tests.. I suppose we can talking about "Iranian nuclear weapon" in two years..
Besides, why you did not ping me? Are you offended on me?

At the rate this is going, it's about 50/50 that Ahminejihad will announce it himself in the next month or so.

I suspect the Iranians already have nuclear capability, as well, bought and paid for. All of this noisy 'enrichment to weapons grade' stuff is just a cover for the source. If Iran does have nukes, and if I had to guess, my vote for supplier would go to North Korea, the other third of the President's 'Axis of Evil'. Iran has lots and lots of cash. North Korea has nuclear capability. Besides, according to the old Arab saying, 'The enemy of my enemy is my friend.'

Finally and at last, people need to understand: there are evil men in the world, and they want us dead.

Has anyone considered the possibility that perhaps Iran's nuclear weapons program *IS* the same program we were trying to stop in Iraq? There have been rumors of material going from Iraq to Syria before we attacked. Now Syria and Iran are best buddies.

Honestly, the US should quit messing with these folks. Just, recognize what they are up to and let them think about the real consequences like we had to for so many years when the US and USSR were facing each other off with certain destruction in the balance.

The US should announce the pre-targeting of Iranian targets for 25% of the US Strategic Nuclear arsenal including the submarine launched missiles. Then announce any evidence that Iran has tested or deployed a nuclear weapon or allowed a nuclear weapon to leave or pass through their boarders will be considered an Act of War. Also the US should announce that tactical and strategic nuclear weapons have been moved into Theater.

This is mostly psychological pressure on the Iranian population saying it is time to deal with this adventurism and fantasy that they can or should play with trying to threaten the US.

Very perhaps this will cause folks to get behind supporting internally managed regime change.
