Actually, if it dawned on him that by voting in favor he could effectively erase his committee idiocy as mere posturing - then yes. But that would be crediting him with the extra 50 IQ points which he neither has nor is entitled to.

If the Democrats were smart, they would want Alito to overturn Roe v Wade so that their voting numbers would swell in 18 or so years when there are thousands more Dems in their districts.
