Amy Klobuchar's top rival for the Democratic U.S. Senate nomination stepped aside Friday, giving the Hennepin County prosecutor a big endorsement and a smoother path to the November ballot.

Patty Wetterling's withdrawal leaves Klobuchar and veterinarian Ford Bell as the last announced DFL competitors for the open Senate seat. On the Republican side, U.S. Rep. Mark Kennedy has a virtual lock on the nomination.

Not unexpectedly, Patty Wetterling (aka Mother Minnesota) has dropped out of the race for the DFL endorsement for US Senate.

In political circles, rumors of her exit have been a whispered story for months.

Unfortunately, this gives DFL front-runner Amy Klobuchar a virtual lock on the DFL endorsement and allows her to campaign against Mark Kennedy more frequently.

Comments or opinions anyone?

Now the question is, will Patty Wetterling jump into the Minnesota 6th District Congressional race? Mark Kennedy is running for the Senate. The current DFL candidate has not raised much money and should be easily beaten by any of the 4 Republican Candidates.
