Spike Lee: Blacks should not back Rice
Indianapolis Star ^

Posted on 01/19/2006 7:53:30 AM PST by bagadonutz

From Indy Star website:

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Filmmaker Spike Lee urged blacks not to support Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice if she seeks the Republican presidential nomination.

Lee, director of "Malcolm X," "Jungle Fever" and "Do the Right Thing," spoke Wednesday on the Purdue University campus. He said everyone should register to vote -- and cast their ballots. And he urged blacks to look beyond race if Rice runs for president in 2008. During his speech, Lee told students they should use education to find their passion in life and then pursue it. He said that his family was an important factor in his success, with his grandmother, who is now 99 years old, helping put him through school by saving money from teaching and her Social Security checks. Lee said that when he entered the film business it was a time when black directors and actors remained a novelty. "When a black film came out, it was a national holiday," he said.

Spike should STFU. What would this little worm be, other than some ones water boy...had he not had the wonderful fortune of being born in the USA.

If the US of A is soooooooo "bad"....why doesn't this "African American" move back to "the homeland" where he can wash muddy windshields in some turd world hell-hole.

"And he urged blacks to look beyond race if Rice runs for president in 2008."

In all fairness to Spike (ughh, I feel dirty saying that) I don't see the above line as specifically telling Blacks not to vote for Rice. He seems to be saying don't vote for her just because of her race. I would agree with that as good advice for blacks and whites alike. Don't vote for or against anyone just becasuse of their race, rather, vote for the person you think will do the best job.

I have a feeling tho he only feels this way IF the person running for office is a conservative black.

FYI.yesterday on Hardball, Chrissie had on Al Sharpton and Ron Christie ( former W aide who has a new book.."A Black in the WH")to discuss is Hillary needs to apoligize for her "plantation" comment..The discussion expanded as to why 95% of blacks, give or take, vote Dem....Christie maintained that the MSM influences the image/perception of the GOP that blacks receive..Sharpton interrupted to say that "what?..you don;t think that OUR cable systems get FOX?"...It was a hoot...and Chrissie looked very sad..

"As a white person, I'd like to know who I'm supposed to be taking my marching orders from. I really hope it's Rob Reiner"

Your official "white person" is Bill Clinton.

It's irony of historical proportions that the descendents of American slaves vote in lock step for the party that was created to keep their ancestors in slavery.

Interesting.

Blacks have refused to back his movies for years.

Come to think of it, Whites, Reds, Browns, Yellows, have all refused to back his movies.

I don't think anyone would take advice from this loser.
