And, I do think that more needs to be done to assimilate those already here - that's what has made America great.

What, exactly should WE do, to assimilate these people. How much more should we spend of our tax dollars to get these people to simply learn English? I work with a guy who has been here 15 years and he still can't speak English to where I can understand him.

They don't want to assimilate. They like the pandering just fine the way it is. They get all the freebies and we get the bill.

Lopez lost his job as a trustee on the Santa Ana school board when he was recalled in 2003.

Lopez has been the Latino version of Al Sharpton for many years. By the way, do you know his original name? I've been trying to recall what it was. Lopez adopted the name "Nativo" when he became an activist. His original name was a lot more ordinary.

They threatened to call a boycott of Phoenix this summer, but it never materialized.

Can you vouch that they are all law-abiding? I think not. They have already broken laws to enter this country illegally, obtain false ID and falsely apply for employment. Even if otherwise they are law-abiding, who is to be the judge? You? If they want to be here they can do what my Great-Grandparents did and enter legally.

I guess when you come from a corrupt, lawless society it's difficult to discern right from wrong.

Gee, your thoughts on solving this problem make just too much sense. I can't see anyone listening to this ridiculously reasonable approach to immigration.

I read somewhere that many illegals left the U.S. after 9/11 because they were afraid they might be drafted. When they realized that was not going to happen, they returned.

Yeah...some "friends."

In case you want some sources -- and, really, don't we all? :^) -- Nativo's name change is briefly discussed in a Sacramento Bee article by Daniel Weintraub and Michael Fumento discusses Lopez and his shenanigans in this article.

Larry, that's it. I remember now. Funny how these "Latino" activists always seem to change their names. Loretta Bixley, changed her name to Sanchez to get herself elected to congress. I bet Nativo would give his right arm to be able to do the same. To bad for him it was the Latino voters who threw him off the school board in the first place.
