It's funny to see people who don't even play guitar have an elitist attitude towards the greatest guitar solo.


with that being said (13 years under the belt) .. for dificulty.. it goes to van halen easily(granted i cant stand him).. but for best sounding, David Gilmour has to take the cake on every song he's ever written... don't be fooled, roger waters cannot even compare to David.... I would defenately remove metallica off the list and put in somebody worthy of the title (stevie ray) or another hendrix song.

I was totally with you until the part about Metallica. Fade to Black and Sanitarium are the very definitions of what solos should be. Kirk Hammett is a master.
