I posted this comment earlier on another post relating to the spike in crude prices over Iran, but fits here as well.
Think this is junk science? Do the research yourself and you'll see that things are definately pointing that way.
Now lets couple this current scare on Iranian futures with the FACT that right now the water temperature in the Gulf of Mexico is running 9-10 degrees warmer than the normal average for the month of January.
I live in near Destin and as much as I like the MUCH warmer than average temps, it does have consequences. We already have a significant start to a warmer Gulf for the year which we all know the warmer water, the higher the octane to fuel hurricanes.
An extremely large portion of the gulf is still in the 80's.
The purpose of hurricanes is to cool ocean temps and disipate that heat throughout the world. I'm already dreading the 2006 hurricane season.
Crude oil prices being driven up by Iran and Hurricanes could easily cause gas to go well over $5 a gallon.
