I think you hit the "mother vein there."

If he had swallowed his anger and had been more of a team player over the past two decades he could be President. The weird part is that I think he knows that and tries mightly to come across as even tempered, wise and moderate on the tube but his anger and viciousness pops through every now and then. Not often but just enough to make too many people very uncomfortable. He will never win the Republican nomination.

Mccain is on the "old" end of the spectrum to run for President.

Yep. He has a mean streak that he can't quite cover up. I think it goes deeper than "anger issues". There's something underneath that is very disturbing.

McCain is creepy. Something about him is off. And he has baggage - the way he dumped his first wife, his frenzy over CFR, and his present wife might have difficulty performing as the first lady.

The Republican nominee will be as much of an unknown as the media can keep him. They will ignore him as much as possible. They will bury him. No Republican will get any traction---or any recognition unless he's in the vice president's seat.
I believe our only hope of winning in '08 is for the vice president to run. And if Dick Cheney won't, he should retire a year earlier and let someone else take full advantage of the position.
There should be another way, but given the current climate, the leftist media and the last two elections roughly 50-50, there isn't another way.

"McCain is creepy."

Think Lon Chaney. Same creepy voice.

He would be great but he has to start mugging the camera more. Nobody knows who the hell he is. He should start taking lessons from John McCain and get more face time on the tube. I know that goes against his nature but he has got to do it if he wants the nomination. Get in front of the friggin' camera every single day. Get him on local, regional and national news every single day. If he cannot do it, he won't get the nomination.

Who ever votes against a war veteran for reelection?

Well, he was a North Vietamese fighter ace. Had a hand in destroying 5 U.S. Navy jets.

When the chips were down and quick action and sacrifice was needed to save the ship......he was glad handing and campaigning. The video doesn't lie and that man doesn't have the intestinal core to lead this country.

Of all the things which John McCain has been accused (rightly or wrongly), this is the most absurd. If McCain was below decks during the fire, it was because that was his "action station". Naval aviators are trained for years for a specific purpose, and that purpose is not to fight fires. I can tell you're a McCain hater, but inaccuracy and libel are not good ways to win an argument.

You make some good points.

If Chenney's health continues to be a problem, would it be a wise move to allow Chenney to retire and have Bush appoint another vice-president. How about Condi as vice-president for the last two years. She would be an instant front runner for the nomination. Of course, she has got to want to run. Just a thought.

GEORGE ALLEN FOR PRESIDENT IN '08!!!

I would vote for George Allen in a heartbeat. I suspect most FReepers would, too. However, Allen has a big problem. He is running for reelection to his senate seat this year and has a tough race. If he loses, he is out of the running for president. If he wins, he has to run for president from the senate. Bad news all around.

If he really is serious about running for president, he would have been best advised not to run for reelection to the senate. He could then have two years free and clear to travel the country and run from outside Washington.

McCaniac reminds me of that weird Doctor Strangelove.

I believe that this poor souls time in prison caused severe mental problems.

He's so bitter and unstable that it's likely if he doesn't get the nomination, he'll split the party and run as an independent.

He's as dangerous as Hillary. They appear to be soul mates.

She won't have any trouble just standing there looking like a rich, reformed doper girl. Paris Hilton says "she's hot."

The problem is that these people have no stomach to endure the years-long media-inflicted rectal exam during the campaign.

Unfortunately, that's part of the job. If you can't deal with it, then you're not really qualified.
