Oh, the words we hear dead men say! When I heard there would be a protest on MLK Day in San Antonio, Texas, where the largest parade in the nation is held for this heralded man, I questioned why.
I couldnt imagine a protest of any kind, until I heard the reason. Because military jets would be flying overhead--in honor of MLK Day--as the processional of followers made their way through the downtown streets of this mostly Hispanic city, there would be shouts of anger and protests at military planes which these protestors felt did not accurately portray Martin Luther King, Jr.s feelings about the war.
About the WAR? Oh my goodness! I dropped my jaw!
Military planes would be viewed as representation of the war were fighting in Iraq, and MLK would most certainly be against the war--at least thats what they say.
They say? Is that truly what Martin Luther King would say? I dont know, do you? Its the words of living idiots that concern me. How in the world does anyone know what a dead man would say?
How do we assign words to Martin Luther King, Jr. . . . I dont want military planes flying over my parade?
Would it not be more accurate to say that its the protestors ideology about the military planes--not Martin Luther King, Jr.?
Or, is it easier to assign it to a dead man just to force your detestation of the war? And for those who would say, MLK was a peaceful man, is that why those who protected him carried guns and MLK sought a gun permit for himself--just to keep the peace?
Now, I dont have a problem with protestors. I, myself, on occasion, have been known to protest, but dont put words in a dead mans mouth.
Just own up to it: Its the spew coming from your own mouth that tells us who you are--not who Martin Luther King, Jr. was or who he could have been.
"..felt did not accurately portray Martin Luther King, Jr.s feelings about the war."
I'm waiting on the typical racial riots and wilding used to "celebrate" MLK day...
Apparently, MLK was talking to Mayor Nagin this morning.
Ah, yeah. King would have been for Saddam. He would have been for keeping women in the background and little girls out of school. He would have been for more mass graves, torture chambers, rape camps, and people disappearing in the middle of the night.
I don't know exactly when it happened but somewhere liberal America has lost its way.
"I don't know exactly when it happened but somewhere liberal America has lost its way."
...or lost it's mind.
I care about as much about what MLK would of said about the Iraq war as I care about what Ted Kennedy has to say about it.
Speaking of stupid, I heard a news broadcast in which Mayor Nagin was saying in essence that New Orleans should be a "chocolate city" and it was "God's will." This is a case of an elected government official advocating segregation or apartheid. So what's next Nagin, are you going to post signs with "No whites allowed in New Orleans after dark?"
I know exactly what you're saying. I was watching a network morning show with a group of "African" dancers thinking, Martin Luther King LOVED America and wanted to make it better. He could care less about Africa. Now we have come 180 degrees from him so that honoring him means acting African???
The US military enables the freedom to protest injustice. The US Armed Forces has bought freedom to more people (both here and overseas) than ANY other military force in the history of mankind, including the US Army's Military Police, with their M- 60 Machine guns mounted on their jeeps and their bayoneted M-14 rifles, deployed in Alabama during the civil rights marcher's return to Selma Bridge in the mid 1960's. Just look at photos from that era and you will see SOLDIERS making that possible while Dr. King is marching by.
The smug, facile, and historically ignorant bleatings of modern day liberals portray a profound lack of gratitude for the incredible sacrifice and heroism of those who have protected and continue to protect you and our nation.
