A Broward county judge on Monday denied bond for a 17-year-old suspect in the beating death of a homeless man last week. The other suspect's hearing was delayed one day.

The judge, Steven DeLuca, also ordered Thomas Daugherty held for 21 days under juvenile detention and signed an order for a psychological examination of the Plantation youth. Daugherty is being treated as a juvenile, prosecutors have not yet formally announced whether the teen will be charged as a juvenile or an adult.

DeLuca also denied a request for pretrial detention by Daugherty's defense attorney, Jerry Williams. If granted, the request would have allowed Daugherty to remain at home under arrest with his movements monitored by an electronic tracking bracelet.

I was wondering why their attorney's were "negotiating" the surrender of these two thugs. Until you read this article that the detectives had contacted the teens families and the teens were out of state. They were going to go on the run with the help of the parents. Probably trying to get the cops not to press charges of evading arrest.

If girls are "old enough" and mature to have abortions at 13 then I think a 17 year old can be tried as ana dult.

Very good point. I was horrified when I saw the tape of this kid beating the guy on the ground. What was in his head as he whaled away with that bat. What an idiot to do it in front of a camera! Amazing stuff.
