Frank slams anti-gay military: Trashes decision to eject soldier during shortage

Bay State Congressman Barney Frank has joined a battle in defense of an openly gay soldier who was discharged after another private allegedly assaulted him in Arizona.

Calling the move “dumb,” U.S. Rep. Frank (D-4th) blasted the Pentagon’s policy on gays in the military yesterday in light of the recent discharge.

“It’s dumb right now because we have a shortage of people and you are losing thousands of people who want to join,” Frank said.

Army Pvt. Kyle Lawson, 19, who was stationed at Fort Huachuca, was discharged from the military on Jan. 5 - two months after he was allegedly punched in the nose by fellow Pvt. Zacharias Pierre at an off-post party.

In a written statement, military officials at Fort Huachuca said Lawson told his drill sergeant in a letter on Oct. 18 that he was a homosexual. At the time, Lawson said he did not have a “propensity” to act on his sexual preference and continued to train, the statement said.

On Oct. 29, Pierre punched Lawson in the nose, the statement said.

Pierre said he punched his fellow soldier after “provoking actions by Lawson,” the statement said. Pierre also claimed Lawson’s behavior constituted “sexual harassment.”

Lawson made a complaint to the Sierra Vista police about Pierre. The military statement said “numerous witness statements” suport Pierre’s account of what happened.

Military officials took over the investigation from local police and took “appropriate” action that amounted to less than court-martial, the statement said.

Remember the old adage about how a politician could never be found with a dead girl or a live boy? This does not apply to Massachusetts.

Barney Frank is the most disingenuous congressman on the Hill. If he doesn't like the gay policy of our military, he can introduce a bill in the House to remedy it to his satisfaction. I hope he holds his breath until it passes.

Would gays be bunked with the rest of the troops? If so, wouldn't this be the equivalent of assigning females and males to the same room? It's seems that if gays were allowed to openly join the military, they would need to be segregated from the rest of the troops. Segregation, I don't think so. What would be the solution to this problem?

"Barney Frank is the gay congressman who used to share his apartment with a male prostitute"

Not only that, Barney's roomate was running a gay bordello out of the Congressman's home.

Barney is the congressman who had sex relations with a teenage male congressional intern, as my memory serves.

Barney is the congressman whose "roommate" operated a gay stud call-boy operation from Barney's townhouse in DC.

Barney is trying to defend a guy who was discharged for sexual harassment of a fellow soldier.

Numerous witnesses.

Being disharged probably saved this guy's life. Next time he hit on a soldier he might not have been so lucky. There are ways for a guy to die in training or in combat with no one the wiser.

Barney Frank put an ad in a Gay Newspaper looking for a boy-toy while sitting on the House Armed Services Committee at the height of the Cold War as the KGB's "Sparrow School" trained agents to answer those ads in hope of compromising a pol or civil servant.

Yes..you nailed the crux of the problem. Most places the military deploys(ships and overseas tent/conex cities) have limited space/resources for seperate homo berthing.

The solution would be to let the homos serve, but not in a deployable capacity. The heteros would suck up all the deployments to satisfy this pressing human rights travesty.

That was Gary Studds, our other Gay congressman. He got a congressional page loaded up on Vodka then Sodomized him. This generated some "book" jokes. We was shrewed enough to do this in DC. Had he does this in MA he would have gone to jail. He was Censured by Congress.

It's one of the many conundrums
re life in D.C. HOW can such
sweet people like Molly Hennenburg
circulate in the same town with
moral decadents like Barney Frank,
Ted Kennedy,Howard Dean, and former
Mayor Marion Berry?

The list could go on...

Gary Studds???

At least if he changes careers and goes into male porn he won't have to change his name.

(You sure that "Gary Studds" isn't a pseudo name used by Condit?)

Actually, Frank's "roommate" used to run a call service out of his apartment. Frank claims he didn't know about it.
