By Henry Ivanov JDW Correspondent Moscow

China is developing an advanced version of the Chengdu Aircraft Industrial Corporation (CAC) J-10 multirole fighter aircraft, referred to as the Super-10, with a more powerful engine, thrust-vector control, stronger airframe and passive phased-array radar, according to Russian sources.

Russian Aircraft Corporation MiG (RSK-MiG) specialists, contracted to provide technical assistance to Chinese design houses, said the enhancement to the J-10 airframe is a logical step, since the fighter was initially intended to have the compact Pratt&Whitney PW1120 engine that powered the Israeli Lavi aircraft, which served as a basis for the J-10 ......

Pretty sweet.
Looks like a delta F-16 with canards. Very original.

However, seeing that Navy P3's are capable of scoring air-to-air kills against the Chinese, I recommend that this particular "fighter" be given the standard "Q" identifier that's reserved for all other target drones.

Whooppy do. Sure those things can inflict damage, but remember all those Chinese arms/products Iraq used in the first Gulf conflict? None of them proved terribly useful or efective. I think as long as this thing is made in China it won't perform to specs. Name one thing that you've purchased "Made in China" that was of quality.

It's good to see that the Chinese are putting to use the technology that Clinton gave to them in exchange for campaign money. I'd hate to think that treason was wasted on lazy enemies.

Clinton was bad, but the Israeli's have given the Chinese all the tactical weapons info they need.

Yeah, the Israelis and Chinese have the same regional enemies - Muslims.

They also get their technology in the same manner, stealing/buying it from traitors in the US.

The f'n Israelis should be ashamed of themselves for all the help they gave the Chicoms on this and all the other stuff they sold to Red China as well.

If we had not bitched, they would have sold the Chicoms AWACS.

Gratitude.

China should stick to producing stuff for Walmart.

A single engine fighter with at RUSSIAN engine? No thanks.
A big fat (radar reflecting) intake, with big fat (radar reflecting) canards? Nope. Directional stability fins near the engine can? Why not just light a flare for our missiles instead?

Not much room for gas to feed that big-ass engine either, so I suspect China intends to build 10-12 per F-22 they expect to encounter over Taiwan? The gear does not appear ready for carrier ops either.

My guess its a research airplane.

The weapons hanging off the aircraft in the belly shot are a copy of the Israeli Python III.

We give the technology to the Israelis and they sell it to the Chinese.

Close. It is the Israeli Lavi, which cost the U.S. millions of dollars.

Large valves and pumps. They pretty much have cornered the market.

The picture (the inset) to the top left is the Israeli Lavi, while every other picture/drawing is of the J-10. The two share enough DNA to be fraternal twins ....not really identical, by any measure, but definitely fraternal.

And as another poster noted, some of the missiles carried by some of the PLAAF have 'Python' hanging all over them in all but name.

Exactly! I only hope that he's the first one killed if they ever attack us. What's that called? Poetic justice? LOL!
