Stealing some soda is slightly different than killing someone.
I swiped a piece of bubble gum when i was 5.
And have still turned out to be productive member of society.
LOL
These kids are evil pure and simple.
Reminds of the evil kids in the movie Bully, which is based on true story that also took place in Fort Lauderdale.
Won't argue with that. But I wonder if these kids were ever punished for anything. My guess would be "no". At least, not in any meaningful way...

I stole a pencil from the dime store when I was five. When my mother found out about it, I had to take it back to the store, confess and pay them a nickel from my allowance for it.
I still recall how mortified I was. And I've never stolen anything since. Not even a paper clip.
If children learn their values early, as you did, they've got a chance to be "a productive member of society". It's up to the parents.
That reminds me of when I stole a Hershey Bar from the corner store in Brooklyn, I was about 5, my mother caught me eating it at home. I was halfway finished. My mother spanked me, got me and my brother dressed, walked us back to the store, made me pay for the Hershey Bar and give the remaining portion back to the store owner. The owner tried to tell my Mom I could have it, but she made me leave it there on the counter. I learned my lesson.
