FOX Sports Stupid Bush Bash (Vanity)
vanity | Jan 15, 2006 | vanity

Posted on 01/15/2006 1:43:47 PM PST by wouldntbprudent

Sorry, but if other Freepers saw this, please take the time to go to FOXSports.com and give them some feedback.

After the Steelers-Colts game, the post-game show included a filmed skit with a guy impersonating George W. Bush, standing in front of the POTUS seal, doing "dumb stuff" remarks about the NFL play-offs.

Afterward, JB said something like "OH, Howie won't like that" (indicating Howie may be a Bush supporter). Howie said he just didn't think it was appropriate to take shots at the President, not to mention that it was a FOOTBALL show.

This deserves a large roar-back.

Also, thanks, Howie, for standing up for decency. And to FOX, SHUT UP AND DO FOOTBALL!

I called my local affiliate and left a pretty angry message with my name and phone number requesting a call back when they get in Monday.

Rush is right when he says the sports reporters are even more liberal than the regulars (which is hard to do).

That was gross. Simply gross.

Entertainers have been making fun of US Presidents for a long, long time. Bush isn't the first. Saturday Night Live did numerous skits, portraying Clinton as a womanizing, Big Mac eating country boy, and I don't think anyone around here complained. David Letterman and the rest of the late night talk show hosts made jokes at Clinton's expense too.

Was this bit in bad taste? Probably. Is it treasonous? No.

There are bigger fish to fry, IMO.

He looks more like Bill Clinton than President Bush.

Was it the guy who always impersonates Bush on Leno? If so, he's pretty good. I'm sure even Pres. Bush himself would laugh at the guy.

Hey, Chief, this is FOOTBALL, not a late-night show. I can avoid those, I cannot go without football.

Making fun of politicians...is...well....fun. To be honest...I can't listen to Bush give a speech. I have to read the transcript.

Yeah, but let it be on Leno. It was out of line on a freakin' post-game playoff show.

Yawn......

The same guy did an impression of DeNiro last week. I didn't see any rioting in Tribeca. News flash: People will impersonate and poke fun of the prez, no matter what his party affiliation happens to be.

That's totally beside the point. This was a football show. It was not an appropriate venue for poking fun at the President.

Most of my co-workers are libs, and have joke pics of President Bush on their cubicle walls and like to pass stuff around. They'll show them to me sometimes, mostly having to do with what a 'dummy' he is, and I'll say "wow, and he's so dumb that he's won the last 2 presidential elections!" Gets 'em every time.

My screensaver for election 2004 was "Flush the Johns in 2004".

This falls into the "Shut-up & Sing" category.

One does not exepct to be subjected to political rantings of raving nut-job 'Rats on a football pregame show.

Howie was not impressed. Republican perhaps?

I don't know if he is a stated republican, but he definatly has conservative stands.

He does support the war.

And he lashed out at hollywood over the lack of pro family movies.

But he doesn't seem to take any political stands.

FWIW, JB is openly liberal and makes no bones about it.

I didn't see it but I would bet it was Frank Caliendo from Mad TV. He is on there every week, he took over for Jimmy Kimmel. Not the first time he has made Bush jokes. As for Howie Long I would be willing to bet he is a Republican. Howie once commented on Daniel M. Snyder, the owner of the Washington Redskins, stating that he was pretty sure Snyder was a Republican but he was spending money like a Democrat. That was the year the Redskins were trying to buy a Superbowl victory with the likes of Deion Sanders and others.
