Yes it is pretty. The Berkshires were to my west, but we had Northampton-Amherst to the North which is "Moscow on the Connecticut".

I am not sure seceding would work, unless they let it merge with parts of New York State which are also "Red".

Western MA is essentially a seperate state from Eastern MA.

I grew up in Eastern MA, my family still lives there. I didn't know there was a world beyond the 128 loop until I was in my 20's. This cloistered mentality is par for the course in eastern MA.
