TRAGIC CHILD TOLD ME HER SAD SECRET: 'I WISH THEY WERE DEAD' (7 Year old Nixzmary Brown)
New York Post ^ | January 14, 2006 | John Doyle

Posted on 01/13/2006 11:57:34 PM PST by beaversmom

A week before she died a violent death at the hands of her sadistic stepfather, a battered and forlorn Nixzmary Brown confided, "I wish my mommy and daddy were dead."

Perry Robinson will never forget those words — or any of the other unsettling encounters he had with the solitary, sad-faced 7-year-old in the park across from her family's apartment in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn.

The retired paralegal used to see Nixzmary in Tompkins Park while he played with his nieces and nephews — and he "was not surprised" when her lifeless, battered body was found naked on the floor of the apartment early this week.

He had seen the bruises on her painfully thin arms and legs, he had heard her stepfather order her to "get your f- - -ing ass over here," and he knew she was living in fear.

But still Robinson, 49, was shocked at police accounts of the torture the little girl had been subjected to — at charges that her stepfather, Cesar Rodriguez, regularly tied her to a chair, beat her with his hands and a belt, sexually assaulted her, and forced her to eat cat food and use a kitty litter box, while her mother, Nixzaliz Santiago, did nothing to help her.

"I should have taken her to the precinct," a guilt-ridden Robinson told The Post yesterday. "I should have said, 'Come on, let's go to the precinct.' "

Robinson recalled the first time he saw Nixzmary in the park. It was last September, and he was with his nieces and nephews, who live nearby.

"She was running back and forth like a normal 7-year-old," he said. "I noticed her when her father came to the stoop and shouted at her, 'Get your f- - -ing ass over here.'

All I see is someone who has a button that got pushed. When it's all over you want to crawl in a hole out of embarrassment.

I know the phenomenon you speak of - it's happened to me. The difference is that when _I_ flashed, I didn't take the extra time to carefully think it through, create a new FR account on the same day just for a single posting, and let fly, with no fear of reprisal. THAT'S why I cry "troll"...most of the rest of us hurl our diatribes while still "in character" (and often regret it later...*sigh*)

went to bed without supper because she refused to eat what was on her plate

Of course! We go through phases of this all the time. I sometimes skip supper myself, if someone's fixed a meal I don't care for :-).

I struggle with my weight, so any time I don't feel like eating a meal, I figure that's good!

I hope so! I don't get on the scale for a few weeks after delivery, usually, because of water retention. Just being *smaller* is enough :-). Reminds me that I need a new 9-volt battery for the scale, though!

Officially, Feb. 1, but I tend to deliver a week or more early. I'm planning on January 24 or 25, just because it makes me feel *in control* to have a plan!

I'm imagining that I am :-). I had my last one right when I planned, during a two-day window between one commitment and another. Probably it was just luck!

Most disturbing post i have ever read on FR....... i'm not actually angry...i'm numb that humans can be so cruel...not much else to post...except, i would gladly put these two so called parents in one of Saddam's plastic shredders...on low, low, low speed...increased torque, mind you...no jamming.

"Who cares if a child is beaten--it's discipline, right?" -dalcanton at post 87.

I don't know if this is the case here.

The retired paralegal used to see Nixzmary in Tompkins Park while he played with his nieces and nephews — and he "was not surprised" when her lifeless, battered body was found naked on the floor of the apartment early this week.

In my opinion, this is a case of heartless cowardice. This individual wasn't surprised... he knew what was going on and yet he did nothing. Shame on him!

He had seen the bruises on her painfully thin arms and legs, he had heard her stepfather order her to "get your f- - -ing ass over here," and he knew she was living in fear.

"She was running back and forth like a normal 7-year-old," he said. "I noticed her when her father came to the stoop and shouted at her, 'Get your f- - -ing ass over here.'

I agree that, as society, people care little about others, and the most vulnerable are children.

We had a case less than ten miles from where I live where a kid was beaten to death for taking a piece of candy.
Well, CPS knew what was going on, and repeatedly did nothing.
(However, 'vigilanteism' in someone making a 'command decision' is frowned upon, and viciously dealt with.)

The paralegal had responsibility to make the report.
CPS had responsibility to follow it up.
Unfortunately, CPS drops the ball all too often.

No, she didn't.
Especially with NY state CPS.

CPS was supposed to have been reformed repeatedly.
But there's differing offices, and the people who do teh legwork really are overworked and manpower is too low for their tasks.
Problem is, they get people in there taht don't really want to do their jobs.
And what is it they do with taxpayer money?
They go afer parents who spank their kids.
But leave alone those who are molesting their children or beating them.
Their interview process involves asking the child questions in front of the person suspected of abuse.

I know. It must be the liberal mentality that blinds people. Another thing, the people who work for CPS don't have much education or training.

Pretty much.
The missus has a cousin who works with CPS.
She, strangely considering her personality, is one of the better workers they have.
(She has the personality of a chihuahua with distemper.)

She doesn't let people get away with BS on her watch.
As much as I dislike her as a person, it would be better if they had more people like her.
