I so hope that when President Bush walks into the joint meeting of Congress for the State of the Nation Address, sitting in the front row with the other Justices will be Justice Alito in his robes.

That will be a proud moment for conservatives and a sharp stick in the eye for the left side of the aisle. Can't wait to see the sour faces.

The last several State of the Union messages, only Justice Breyer has attended. He was the junior justice in tenure, although that may not have anything to do with his attendance. I'm not at all aware whether the Court's involvement in deciding the 2000 election in Bush v. Gore has anything to do with the apparent boycott by all but the junior justice as a seemingly token representative. Certainly, several justices used to attend.
