I have a suggestion: How 'bout if we ship all these guys, unflushed Korans and all, to Germany? Maybe 72 Virgin Air would cut us a deal. Then you -- Germany -- can parole them to Lebanon. That, of course, is just what you did just before Christmas with Mohammad Ali Hammadi, the convicted Hezbollah killer of Petty Officer Robert Dean Stethem. In case you didn't know, Mr. Stethem is one of our American heroes, a courageous young Navy diver who became an early casualty of the war on Islamic terror. In 1985, at age 23, he was beaten to an unrecognizable pulp by Hammadi and his gang, shot through the head and dumped onto a Beirut runway during the Hezbollah hijacking of TWA Flight 847.

Oh , No way , In Deutschland , a life term means precisely 19.18746667 years. This particular animals release had nothing to do with the theats against the life of a German hostage who upon release did not even bother to return to the the Fatherland before going back to work for her recently wealthy abductors. Germany does not deal with terrorists! But, nod nod ,wink wink, the old rate of 10 innocent lives for one german seems to have become one murderer and five million euros.

When Ramstein AB, HQ was the subject of a botched terrorist attack in 1980 something...the only people who even pretended to give a serious damn were the local German police.
The USAF screwed up big time in our amateur attempts to police the site.
I was there.
Nobody ever talks about the terrorist failures.
By the grace of God, and my unforgiving nature, I did not become a casualty.
The entire time I spent in the NATO environment, was under constant and direct threat by terrorists, over and above the primary mission, which was to defeat the USSR.
"Nobody" in the USA even knew there was a problem, for decades before 91101.
As long as it was confined to USA military members, the death and destruction was not deemed particularly "newsworthy" by the MSM.
Am I bitter?
No.
Am I more prepared to protect my family in situations most people of the USA have no ability to comprehend?
Yes.
91101 was the final wake-up call.
If anyone decides to hit the "snooze button", well...they have made a bad decision.

I was not stationed at Ramstein.
I was stationed at Kindsbach.
I had already dropped off my husband at Ramstein AB on my way to work that day, and made a conscious decision to NOT pick up the obnoxious prick who needed a ride to work that day.
Kharma is...what it is.
Had I detoured from my route, I would have been the sole casualty.
The "detonator" blew a Volkswagon over a three story U shaped building.
65 pounds of "plastique" did not act as planned.
And I knew where they went, and reported it.
I still live.
Frankly, the fact that I still live, seems to piss off an equal number of USA government and enemy agents.
Oh well!

I felt the blast at the Kindsbach cavern.
I useleslsy wasted a large amount of cash trying to assure my CONUS based "loved ones" that I was alive and unhurt.
It was never reported in the CONUS.

I'm guessing that publicly confronting President Bush over Guantanamo is, along these same lines, business as usual -- doing jihadists' bidding in a craven bid to spare Germany a September 11, a March 11, or a July 7. It's just a hunch; but it fits a dispiriting pattern of surrender.

WASHINGTON -- President Bush rejected a suggestion by Germany's new chancellor that the U.S. prison camp at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, be shut down.

Some people on FR thought this little brou-ha-ha starting with the German guy's post was no big deal.

Personally, I think it's well worth noting.
Why should we forget and forgive so easily, especially when their Chancellor rips us a new one just prior to her "diplomatic" visit?

We're used to getting punished for our good deeds, but too far is too far.

Nor should we forget about Hammid. I've learned a lot just these two days. Thanks Star. Glad to see our President made things absolutely clear.

I don't listen to El Rushbo like I used to now that I'm home and homeschooling the kiddos instead of sitting at my desk at work, but I predict, in the near future, he will come up with a nickname akin to "Gorbasm" for what happens with Merkel. I'm waiting for her actions to prove her friendship with the US -- in the words of Toby Keith -- "a little less talk and a lot more action." LOL

I listen to The Great One when I can. He is sure to have the best take on Urkel's cousin, Merkel.

The East European nations are more interesting to me and a better bet as allies; recently liberated and new members of Nato as well as the Coalition.
