Light Crust Doughboys

Their sponsor on the radio show was the Light Crust Flour company... The Light Crust Company claimed that dough made with their flour produced pies with very light crusts. The Ad agency demanded the band be named the Light Crust DoughBoys. That way every time the name of the band was mentioned they were mentioning the sponsors product. The agency told them they did not want to take that name.. the agency would find a band that would.

They elected to be called the Light Crust Doughboys.

Groups in the depression days didn't get offers of sponsorship all that offen and bands would do just about anything a sponsor wanted done.

OMG!!! Drumbo, thank you *so* much for posting this song... this is one my father used to play for me when reminiscing his days in Guam (where I was born) flying rescue missions for our downed pilots in the Air Force in Vietnam.. I haven't heard it since I was a little girl. *sniffle* He passed away 2 years ago yesterday... so it's been a pretty nostalgic weekend. This means a *lot* to me, and has really made this a special day. Thank you for helping me remember my father for his goodness.
