Julia Gorin is very astute. One of my favorites.

I... underestimated the propensity of my people for narrow-mindedness and self-destruction (the Jewish vote for Mrs. Clinton was about 70%)....

Some anti-Semitism is irrational, founded in ignorance, as in Hillary's case....

But other forms of anti-Semitism can be earned, giving folks legitimate grievances against a people because they do crazy things like EXTEND HILLARY CLINTON'S POLITICAL LIFE!

This is not to cast the entire blame on Jewish New Yorkers; they alone couldn't have elected her. In my initial optimism, I equally underestimated the urban pseudo-intellectual's high-mindedness, as well as the Everyman's yearning for celebrity in his midst.

Interesting reading in your last replies. The cold calculation that these creatures make puts them in the same league as all the dregs of history. I imagine Hitler stirring his herb tea and asking Himmler how the final solution is coming along. Stalin silently puffing his pipe while signing liquidation orders. The clintons positioning themselves as moderate Americans who care for their fellow citizens...

This legacy confab is in and of itself proof certain of clinton's deeply flawed character, and a demonstration in real time of the way in which the clinton years were about a legacy that was incidentally a presidency.

Madeleine Albright captured the essence of this dysfunctional presidency best when she explained why clinton couldn't go after bin Laden.

According to Richard Miniter, the Albright revelation occurred at the cabinet meeting that would decide the disposition of the USS Cole bombing by al Qaeda [that is to say, that would decide to do what it had always done when a "bimbo" was not spilling the beans on the clintons: Nothing]. Only Clarke wanted to retaliate militarily for this unambiguous act of war.

Albright explained that a [sham] Mideast 'accord' would yield [if not peace for the principals, surely] a Nobel Peace Prize for clinton. Kill or capture bin Laden and clinton could kiss the 'accord' and the Peace Prize good-bye.

If clinton liberalism, smallness, cowardice, corruption, perfidy--and, to borrow a phrase from Andrew Cuomo, clinton cluelessness--played a part, it was, in the end, the Nobel Peace Prize that produced the puerile pertinacity that enabled the clintons to shrug off terrorism's global danger.

COMPLETE ARTICLE

C-SPAN asked noted presidential historians to rank the American presidents1 along the following ten dimensions: public persuasion, crisis leadership, economic management, moral authority, international relations, administrative skills, relations with congress, vision/setting an agenda, pursued equal justice for all, and performance within context of times.

bill clinton emerged as middling in most dimensions; he was surpassed in others by a settled mediocrity (Carter) and a putative failure (Nixon). In moral authority, bill clinton was rated dead last.2 He did fairly well in public persuasion, not a surprising finding given the volume of snake oil he managed to peddle during his putative presidency.

"It's NOT the economy, stupid!"

Clinton's best scores were on the economic management and pursued equal justice for all dimensions. However, both of these results are meaningful only insofar as they redound to the moral authority dimension: they are wholly based on clinton fraudulence, cooked books and black poses, respectively; and clinton's shameless Rosa Parks eulogy last week assured us that the insidious brand of clinton racism is alive and well during these tiptoe years of what the clintons hope will be their interregnum.

Note that although Brinkley doesn't place much importance on the economic management dimension--he argues that the economy variable is not durable over time--he fails to recognize that the evaluation of the clinton economy by the historians is erroneous to begin with.

Note also that C-SPAN historians found no evidence of clinton "greatness" irrespective of his moral-authority deficit, contrary to Douglas Brinkley's claim made at the clinton revisionist confab3.

(NOTE: My later research has revealed that Brinkley's qualified mention of clinton "greatness" was not a claim but rather a polite guest's white lie about an abject loser. Instead of taking the AP report at face value, one must carefully parse Brinkley's actual words and especially note the subjunctive construction.)

MIDDLING

Twenty presidents rank higher than bill clinton and 20 rank lower. But this placement assumes equal weight for each of the dimensions. And therein lies the flaw.

If 9/11 taught us anything, it is that presidential character and moral authority count, and count most.4 If the variables are properly weighted, bill clinton will always come out dead last.

That is, unless Americans are dumb enough to make the same mistake twice.

..you know, sometimes I actually forget how bad they were--bodies everywhere, raped or with bullet holes in the head.

As long as the Clintons breathe, they are still grasping for power and will destroy anyone in their way.

Thank you for the reminder...

You ought to consider utilizing nazi graphics and Third Reich military decorations to modify for use with clinton imagery. The shared relationship, ethics and political aims are clear, why not the regalia?

Third Reich regalia is a comfortable fit to be sure.

Mia, you may have used this Hillary(!) quote already and I just haven't seen it but she certainly exposed her socialist heart of arrogance with this statement:

"We're going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good."

Hillary Clinton, San Francisco, June 2004.

It may say more about the media that has been promoting and protecting her since 1969.

Absolutely right and they are equally culpable.

Their audacity amazes me daily. Like how they hammer away, round the clock, against President Bush about a difficult (but crucial!) war or perfectly legal "spying" (spying that, if not utilized, WOULD be grounds for impeachment) and then trumpet when his poll numbers go down as a result.

The widespread hypocrasy and disengenuousness would laughable if it weren't such a menace.

"such a menace" --- yes: The old established/liberal/socialist media is America's most ruthless, relentless, and destructive enemy.

Huxley: “ The greatest triumphs of propaganda have been accomplished, not by doing something, but by refraining from doing. Great is truth, but still greater, from a practical point of view, is silence about truth." — Old Media lives these words.

Allow me a few words about that Lisa Myers interview...

That interview was going to be aired in the normal course of events BEFORE the impeachment process. Of course, the MSM, in this case NBC, sat on the story. News of the story leaked (via the new media and in particular, Drudge) and the phone calls, email and letters poured into NBC. According to stories at that time, the stonewalling by NBC garnered the most volume of critical response that they had ever had. I don't know if that is true or not, but I could certainly believe it given the atmosphere of the country at that dark time. My personal experience was that the NBC call center had a lot of busy signals and they didn't respond to emails.

Now Ms. Myers was a tad miffed about this transparent ploy by NBC as well. She stated that that story was all ready to go after exhaustively being checked and double-checked; in a phrase, it was in the can. In fact, if you download and watch the interview (as you should) you'll see that she (Ms. Meyers) played it right down the middle and gave Ms. Broaddrick no softballs or easy-out treatment so common for the MSM and favored subjects. It was done and ready to go according to all SOP in NBC reporting coverage. But, no-o-o-o-o-o-o! NBC maintained that they had to be certain that all the facts were correct because of the explosive nature of the report and the possible damage it could do to the reputation of the Presidency.

Uh huh. I really love the vigor of MSM journalism.

Well, they sat on if for something like nine weeks beyond the expected airtime (if memory serves) doing their phony and nonexistent fact checking. In any event, it finally aired after the impeachment vote (duh). Amazingly, all the RAT whores never saw or heard or knew a single thing about Juanita Broaddrick. I believe the official record shows that only two RAT legislators ever showed up and logged in at the Ford Building where the Starr Commission housed the investigation materials on krinton and his criminal cabal. Those two heroes of freedom were logged, I believe, for something around 10 minutes total time. Exhaustive research by elected representatives of the people. Must've been a terrible burden to bear on account of the people, staying up all those late hours and pouring over the evidence in pursuit of justice and defense of the Republic.

For me, the Jaunita Broaddrick travesty was a turning point.

I no longer allow any RAT any excuse about their Party, goals, intentions or any other pretext for claiming patriotism or any other American virtue or concern. These people and that Party are out and out subversive scum. Only two possibilities exist for any innocence in RAT membership or Party support: 1) The individual is retarded or in some way mentally diminished; 2) The individual is ignorant. Good intentions, general stupidity, ancestral loyalty, etc. make no difference. The RAT Party, and their whores in the media, are flat out enemies of America.
