Iran threatened Friday to end all cooperation with the U.N. nuclear watchdog if the agency refers it to the U.N. Security Council for possible sanctions over its controversial nuclear program.
Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said Europeans will lose opportunities they currently have in dealing with Iran and will force Tehran to block snap inspections of its nuclear facilities, state-run television reported.
"In case Iran is referred to the U.N. Security Council ..., the government will be obliged to end all of its voluntary cooperation," the television quoted Mottaki as saying Friday.
End cooperation? I must have missed something. Did they cooperate for a minute when I was not looking?
Who's writing the mullahs' material?
lol that was my first thought! they were co-operating???
maybe what they have been doing they CONSIDER co-operating???
It appears they have finally completely lost it. I'm sure the fact that the US is engaged elesewhere right now is giving them some false bravado.
Iran would do well not to take that as a sign of weakness on our part.
"I'm sure the fact that the US is engaged elsewhere right now"
Don't forget, we are engaged right at Iran's front door.
So, the mad mullahs are cursing the mustache of the UN? Do they have a version of Baghdad Bob, such as "Tehran Tom"?
I don't think either needs the job, and if their vote becomes meaningless they may just wish to spend their last days doing something else.
Iran may be right. They are calling our bluff. Today Condoleeza Rice came out and basically stated we would not attack Iran. We are weakened by our own 5th column here in the U.S. (the Dem party and the MSM), and by the EU, China, Russia, and France who do anything possible to undermine U.S. policy. So, time to have Israel do the dirty work and we provide the bombs and equipment to do it and back them up as to what might follow. Better now than when they are a full blown nuclear power. I doubt Bush will attack, unless he saves it for his last year in office, when he won't give a damn what other countries or the MSM think. Like when Israel was condemned for knocking out the Iraqi nuclear facility for which they are now praised, so it would be with Bush. Hope he gets it together to do what is necessary. We'll see. The only consolation if they don't is that Iran's missiles will be able to reach all of Eurabia too (although the EU will probably fall internally to the Muslims anyway), and then Iran can aid Chechnya against the Russians. China is having problems with their Muslim populations too. So, if they all want to slit their own throat, so be it. Just so we don't slit our own throat along with them.
No kidding? ;-)
(I'm on their western side. Hard for me to forget that.)
I don't think he cares now. As it should be.
It this point we're still in "it all remains to be seen" mode.
The ball, at the moment, is in Iran's court. It looks like they're not going to play it very wisely, but we'll see.
i think this is amazing to watch how iran has managed to corner itself..
a classic case of give one enough rope...
what i am curious about is what the response will be. if i was Bush, i would sit smugly in those 'concerned' UN meetings and keep asking...what are YE going to do now?
but dont be concerned that the guy leading the country belives that the world has to burn before his saviour will appear out of a well in the ground...
i personally cannot wait until i hear what france has to say..no doubt it will be a fawning, kinda sort of, maybe , we should show how upset we are kinda of response...and no doubt palestine will be mentioned somewhere....
Sure. Where do you think the coffee and doughnuts from for all those meetings came from?
Saddam Hussein did. Cheat and retreat and let the UN idiots and collaborators (El Baredei) run out the clock
"In case Iran is referred to the U.N. Security Council ..., the government will be obliged to end all of its voluntary cooperation," the television quoted Mottaki as saying Friday.
That's fine, INVOLUNTARY cooperation will do too.
The question is, how far can the Mullahs push things, before the rather youngish, somewhat Westernized population gets nervous enough about the impending consequences, that they finally rise up and do something about it.
