She's the wife of an attorney at my office.

She's also a most rare bird: an honest, thinking liberal.

Thus, it's quite possible that, eventually, she becomes a conservative.

Actually, her husband is the one I mentioned yesterday in another Alito thread -- he couldn't believe the completely nasty and untrue things that were being said about the Judge. He was absolutely thrilled with the nomination when it was first announced. (We both get to the office pretty early and had a long conversation about it that morning). I kidded him about being a liberal and sticking up for a conservative judge. He said "well, sticking up for this one, at any rate." They're both back in D.C. for the hearings.

If she were truly "honest" and "thinking," she wouldn't favor gun bans.

She's not a 'thinking' liberal. Reread her piece. She thinks that Alito won't advance a conservative agenda at the court so he's okay. She is everything that is ruining this nation - put MY politics on the court, don't read the law and decide cases based on intent.

SCOTUS will continue to function as an oligarchy until we take their toy away. They have assumed absolute power and no one has the balls to put them in their place. Congress has to create the power for the legislative and executive branches to reverse the court's decisions. Then there might be a balance of power.
