Doctor: PM's disease hidden to prevent political damage By Tamara Traubman and Ran Reznick, Haaretz Correspondents
The controversy surrounding Sharon's medical treatment and the transparency of his physicians continued unabated Wednesday.
Additional criticism was heard of Sharon's physicians for concealing the diagnosis of CAA after the prime minister's first stroke, despite their declaration of "full disclosure of [Sharon's] condition in the wake of his hospitalization."
Chico Menashe of Israel's Channel 10 reported Wednesday that a doctor involved in Sharon's treatment said the information was concealed "for political reasons," out of fear that if made public, it would be used for propaganda purposes against Sharon and his Kadima party, particularly in light of the fact that CAA has often been associated in medical literature with Alzheimer's Disease.
Senior Hadassah executives admitted this week that the hospital's doctors had decided to give Sharon blood thinners despite the discovery last month of cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA) after the prime minister's first stroke.

His policies over the past two years were the direct opposite of his policies and beliefs of his entire previous life.
He was indeed nutz for giving up an inch of territory.
I agree. Sharon should have stepped down after his first stroke, and these doctors were culpable for covering up and possibly for his suffering the second stroke.
I know some Freepers think that Sharon knew what he was doing, but it's a hard case to make.

It's an incredible bit of news. I don't know that his disease made him any less responsible for is actions, nor do I believe it impaired his judgement. I do think there was/is tremendous US & international pressure and with the funding and support Israel receives - that's the real crux of the relinquishment of territory.
