so the ACU defines what a conservative is ???? take me off the list --because if any man agrees with you on everything --he is a liar for darn sure.
It looks at key votes and determines how liberal or Conservative an individual member of Congress is, yes. You'll tend to find that the numbers correspond perfectly with liberal group counterparts... meaning if a Conservative Republican earns like a 90 from the ACU, they'll earn around a 10 from the AC"L"U. It may not be 100% on the money, but they'll be able to help identify the bad guys.
And, BTW, who says we all agree on everything ?
The ACU does not "define what a conservative is," but they do a pretty good job of finding key votes in Congress and reporting on how people voted. Bilbray's voting record was consistently pro-abortion and pro-environmental extremism throughout his years in Congress. A social liberal like him was acceptable in his old district, which was very liberal, but in Cunningham's rock-ribbed Republican district we should not settle for anything less than a conservative Republican.
You should reread my post #49 in which I provided some of Bilbray's liberal votes. You can decide for yourself if he is a conservative.
