The story is that it was a couple of blasting caps. Not a big deal, except that I have to wonder why they were there and how they were found.

For those who don't know- a blasting cap is basically a professional-grade firecracker, and is used to set off larger charges.

Thanks. They really made it sound more ominous on the radio, even as they breezed past it. Could have been from someone's NYE celebration, I guess.

The first thing I thought was that someone was going "fishing", or had just disposed of them by throwing them in the water.

Eight law enforcement agencies responded to the finding of two blasting caps! Why not just call the Navy and have them police up their trash?
