They won't be flyin' ancient MiG - they'll be flyin' late model MiGs and Sukhois - excellent airplanes.
On the other hand, I don't think it will matter much.

Having planes is one thing, but having trained combat pilots is quite another.

The MiG-29 is not an excellent warplane, except maybe on paper. As per real combat, the exact opposite is true.

The Su-27 looks like a great plane on paper, but as it has never seen combat, we dont know for sure. So it cannot yet be called excellent.

The F-15 and F-16 on the other hand, can.
